A luxury barn conversion set within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the cusp of the North York Moors; ideal for those looking for beautiful accommodation in equally beautiful surroundings.

Enjoy this opulent home-from-home offering a countryside retreat to remember for those looking to truly relax, with picture-perfect views as far as the eye can see, walking paths aplenty and the convenience of a local shop and hospitable pub within walking distance. The pretty town of Kirkbymoorside, home to a gallery, antique shops, team-rooms, and a number of independent shops, in addition to a market on Wednesdays, lies within easy reach, as do the market towns of Pickering and Helmsley.

Once part of an old two-storey barn, this property has been lovingly furnished throughout, creating a truly desirable holiday cottage. No expense has been spared with the styling of this property, clearly always with the guests in mind. The peaceful living area is home to comfortable seating surrounding the feature wood burner so you can gather round and cosy up during the colder months. The 30ft-long room also boasts a dining table to host six within the impressive open-plan space. Next door, you'll find the galley-style kitchen, complete with all the mod cons you'll want and need during your stay. Following a day of discovery, take your pick from one of the three contemporary and spacious bedrooms, all of which benefit from en-suite facilities.

There is much to appreciate outside, with an enclosed private garden overlooking the rolling countryside that is the North York Moors. What's more, guests can make the most of garden furniture and BBQ during those balmy summer evenings. Additional facilities include a shared tennis court, croquet set and billiards room. This property also offers off-road parking. A hot tub can be arranged for guests wishing to hire, an additional cost starting from £175.

Advice to all guests - The shared tennis court will be open to guests. Guests will have allocated time slots. Please note guests will need to bring their own equipment. Other areas will have had sanitizer/wipes available however, the billiards room and summer house are currently unavailable. These measures are to ensure all guests can relax and enjoy their stay whilst being conscious of the COVID-19 circumstances.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

  • 3 bedrooms: 2 king-size and one twin room

This property occupies an enviable location: sitting within a farm on the cusp of the North York Moors this gorgeous rural setting is within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, much of which you can see from the property. There are no less than three established footpaths leading directly from the farm to across stunning countryside to neighbouring villages and towns.

The cottage is under half a mile from Gillamoor, an attractive North York Moors village with a local village pub. Travel a mile south to the pretty town of Kirkbymoorside which has much to offer including a gallery, antique shops, tea-rooms, deli, wine shop and butchers. There's also a great market on Wednesdays. From there you can move on to the vibrant and attractive Yorkshire market towns of Pickering and Helmsley (just under 10 and 8 miles respectively); both of which have an abundance of good restaurants, tea-rooms and independent shops.

Beyond the farm lies the North York Moors. A landscape like no other, it's a place of gentle rolling hills of heather, ancient woodlands and lazy rivers winding through lush green valleys. If you want to get away from it all take a trip to the top of the high central moorlands. The famous Blakey Ridge affords some of the best views in the country in our opinion, and is just 8.5 miles from the cottage. And if walking is your thing, you are surrounded on all sides by some truly stunning routes.

The Haven is also close to the North Yorkshire Coast, with the gothic town of Whitby and the picture-postcard fisherman village of Robin Hood's Bay both around 30 miles away. Take a day trip here and experiences the sights sounds and tastes of Yorkshire's coastline and make sure you don’t miss out on the fish and chips!

Hutton-le-Hole, quite possibly the most beautiful village in the North York Moors, is just under 3 miles away and you're also close to Castle Howard (15 miles) so you have lots of choice for day trips.

We loved the cottage as it had everything we needed and the extras like the billiard room and tennis court made it that more special. It was perfect for walks with our dog and even had a room to clean our dog and put her in at night.

The cottage is very nice but let down (for us) by its remote location. To pop to the nearby local shops is a a bit of a trek. The cottage is a perfect place for people who like to walk in a very rural location, but city dwellers might find it too remote. The TV was too small and access to the MP3 player was not possible. With welcoming and friendly owners we found The Haven to be a great choice. Although quite isolated, the cottage was perfectly situated for exploring the North Yorkshire Moors and we were very comfortable. The property was spotlessly clean and well appointed. We enjoyed the holiday(4days) but felt we didnt make the most of the facilities as we didnt find some of them until our last day. The kitchen lacked some basic equipment like a flat and a wire rack for the grill. The underfloor heating varied from boiling to freezing. There was a lack of basic info about the cottage in the welcome book.

Reviewed by Confirmed guest 27th February 2019

Excellent spacious accommodation and a thoroughly enjoyable week. Only slight niggles were the underfloor heating, which we could not get to grips with and there were no instructions; and in the kitchen a measuring jug would be useful when cooking, and only 7 mugs meant we were constantly washing them up.
