Beautiful spacious property, perfect for a special family holiday or celebration, located in the attractive town of Bideford in North Devon.

This handsome property is located on the edge of the town of Bideford, almost right next to the River Torridge. A pleasant fifteen minute walk along the riverside will bring you to the town centre, with its independent shops, cafes, pubs, and harbour. The town is situated on the Tarka Trail, a thirty two mile, traffic free, trail suitable for walkers, wheelchair users and cyclists alike, which passes through stunning wildlife rich countryside. Those who enjoy a traditional beach holiday will love the fact the property is just a five minute drive from the expansive beach at Westward Ho! whilst a number of other beaches are also within easy reach.

This property is the perfect place for enjoying a special holiday with friends or family. Entering the property, guests will find themselves in the impressive hallway, off from which is the first of two lounge areas, a light-filled space with leather sofas, TV and French doors leading out to the patio area. The second lounge is the larger of the two and has seating for fourteen, TV/DVD with Sky TV package and a Nintendo Wii games console. Children will love to play here, whilst the adults can relax in the adjoining conservatory with views across to the River Torridge and fenced carp pond. The property’s contemporary kitchen/diner is a lovely space, perfect for socialising, with a large dining table seating fourteen and patio doors which lead out onto a decked area. In the kitchen area, there is breakfast bar style seating for 4 at the kitchen island, as well as all the equipment that guests will need to prepare their favourite meals, including a Double range-style oven, additional conventional oven, American-style fridge freezer, microwave and dishwasher. A second fridge/freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer are located in a separate utility room. One bedroom is located on the ground floor, a double room with French doors leading out to the garden, its own TV and an en-suite shower room with WC. There is also a convenient downstairs cloakroom with WC. The remaining six bedrooms are located on the first floor of the property, all of which have their own TV. Two of these are king-size rooms, one with an en-suite shower room with WC and the other with an en-suite bathroom with bath, separate shower, and WC. There are then two double rooms, one of which has an en-suite shower room and WC, and two twin rooms; again, one of these benefits from an en-suite shower room with WC. The main bathroom has a shower over corner bath and there is a separate WC. Competitive guests will enjoy the games room, which has a pool table and table tennis; this room makes a great escape for teens.

Outside, the property enjoys an enclosed river view garden which is mainly set to lawn, with a patio seating area and a covered raised decked area. There is also a relaxing hot tub and an all weather BBQ lodge. There is a car port, as well as ample off-road parking and guests are able to make use of a lockable storeroom, which is a perfect place for storing bikes and beach equipment.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

11 of us spent a week at Christmas which included 4 teenagers, 1 child and 4 adults and 2 oldies. Every one of us enjoyed ourselves very much and wouldn't hesitate to return and would certainly recommend it to others. We received a very warm welcome and the welcome hamper had to be seen to be believed. The Christmas tree was beautiful and even the Read moredining table had been laid along with mulled wine. . Hide

Anchor House is a lovely, spacious house and is well set up for large groups. The rooms are all a good size (apart from the kitchen which is enormous!!). We visited in November and it was warm and comfortable. It is in a great location with the Tarka Trail literally on the doorstep and plenty of good walking/biking in the area. Lovely large house in a brilliant location very close to the Tarka trail. Traffic a bit noisy as the garden backs on to a busy road, but an excellent place for large family group. We were a party of 13, ages ranging from 2 to 70 and we had a great time.

This property is large and spacious. Really super as noise from large numbers is unnoticed. Games room was excellent for older teenagers in party. Tub was a relaxing element. Fenced off garden was great for little ones playing.

We were a party of 11 from 3 generations and this was a great property. Lots of space, exceptionally well equipped and ideally located. The games rooms, hot tub, Sky package and BBQ lodge were all great touches and the massive kitchen/diner and lounges were ideal. The kitchen is very well equipped. A wonderful house with plenty of room for our party of eleven. Neil the owner was very helpful and courteous. The hot tub was enjoyed by many of us. A lovely location for walking along the Tarka trail.

We had a wonderful week celebrating a 60th birthday. The house is extremely spacious and well equipped. Despite its size the house was warm and comfortable with plentiful hot water. We made good use of the hot tub, indoor bbq lodge and games room. Convenient location on tarka trail with enjoyable walks to Instow and Bideford. We also hired bikes.

The house was fabulous! The owner- Neil, was so accommodating when we asked for extra bits that we needed for our group and so friendly. The house was huge, bigger than we thought and everything about it was just amazing, perfect for a family gathering party as we had there. Lots of room for everyone, games room, 2 lounges and a huge kitchen!
