This charming detached cottage is set in the heart of the Black Mountains and has wonderful views from the elevated garden. This is the perfect place to relax and unwind.

The cottage is set at the foot of the Sugar Loaf Mountain, and part of the Brecon Beacons National Park and the Black Mountains are all around you, so great walks are available from your door. Situated next door to the owner’s home where fresh eggs and treats are available from the owner’s kitchen, this is the ideal spot for some rest and relaxtion. Take a trip to the market in Abergavenny, Crickhowell which is 6 miles away is great for small local stores. Visit one of the many historic houses, gardens and castles such as White Castle, Longtown, Grosmont and Raglan Castle. Hay-on-Wye with its famous Literary Festival is approximately a 40 minute drive away.

Enter the property into a surprisingly spacious open-plan lounge/kitchen/dining area, with lovely high ceilings.The kitchen is well-equipped with all the essentials for your holiday, including an electric oven and hob, fridge with ice compartment and a Nespresso coffee machine. The lounge includes a sofa (which can be converted into a sofa bed at an additional cost), TV and DVD. The perfect spot to curl up and enjoy a film in the evening. The neutral and stylish décor gives this property a light and airy feel throughout, with soft furnishings dotted around for comfort.. The cosy king-size bedroom is tucked away at the end of the corridor, with sumptuous bedding and DAB radio to wake up to in the mornings. Next to the bedroom there is a contemporary shower room with monsoon shower head to revive you for the day ahead.

Outside you will find patio furniture for sitting back and watching the world go by, together with steps up to the private garden area. From here you can enjoy wonderful rural views, toast marshmallows over the fire pit or even light the BBQ for dinner on a sunny evening. Behind the property there is a utility/boot room offering a washing machine and tumble dryer. There is also a handy outside tap for washing those muddy paws after long walks! There is off-road parking for 1 car to the front of the property.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

SLEEPS 2: King-size bedroom, fresh bedlinen included, Welsh blankets and storage space. The sofa in the sitting room is a sofa bed with a pocket sprung mattress, so the cottage can work well for two people who prefer not to share a bed (a small bedding supplement of £15 will apply for use of the sofa bed).

B&B: 1-2 night stays include a complimentary continental breakfast basket for two. 

RELAXING: Open-plan living space, sofa, dining table and chairs, well-equipped kitchen, electric oven and four ring hob, Nespresso coffee machine, microwave available, Wi-Fi, TV, DVD, DAB radio with iPod compatibility.

KEEPING CLEAN: Shower room with large shower, loo and basin. Open access to washing machine and tumble dryer and outside wash tap.

PETS: One dog is very welcome, there are dog washing facilities and dog towels available.

GARDEN : There are external steps up to the garden which has great views, but not suitable for toddlers as it is not fully enclosed.

GOOD TO KNOW: Tesco, Waitrose and Asda will deliver groceries to this property.

BEDDING : The duvet is feather, however a synthetic one can be provided, please just let us know on the comments box when you book.

OUTSIDE:  Outdoor seating, bike storage, parking, fire pit and a BBQ.

Fantastic location for walkers! We hardly used our car to access any of our walks which was superb and loved the fact there wasnt much service when you were out and about in the hills. We were truly able to switch off from our busy lives and escape and unwind. A lovely hideaway in a stunning peaceful location. The accommodation has everything you need and nothing you dont and is styled nicely. Bed was very comfortable and the shower amazing. A great little find in an excellent part of the country.

Lovely property, we really enjoyed our stay here. We cooked each night of our stay and It had everything we needed and more. The cottage was spotless and cosy. A fantastic stay. The bolthole met our needs perfectly, we did 2 of the walks provided in the folder direct from the front door. The kitchen was well equipped and the garden was a lovely space to enjoy a pre dinner drink after a busy day walking. Sugarloaf is a must! A lovely cosy warm and comfortable Bolt Hole with wonderful mountains all round. Lower slopes of part of Sugar Loaf Mountain within 5 minutes walk.

Lovely little annex/cottage, perfect for two. We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay, although wished we could have stayed longer as the surrounding area was very beautiful. Beautiful Cosy Cottage in a great location close to Sugar Loaf Mountain walks and Abergavenny Town. I would recommend the Sugar Loaf Vineyard for wine tasting and Cheese/Meat Platter, and Pizzorante in Abergavenny for Italian (recommended by Helen the Owner). Perfect location for walking the Black mountains...can leave the car in the driveway for your stay. Lovely Bolthole with everything you need and stunning views. Really peaceful, quiet and dark at night. Loved our time there and will return again.

The Bolt Hole is perfect for a couple to escape the rigours of every day life. Cosy, warm and welcoming, it has everything you need with the exception of phone signal (and I view that as a positive!) although the free WiFi does allow contact with the outside world.
