The property has a stylish finish, with attention to detail, yet provides a cosy home from home to enjoy the magnificent scenery that surrounds the cottage and lovely dark skies.

Castleton, set in the heart of the Esk Dale, with shop, tearoom and pubs a short walk from this grade II listed cottage. Why not take the train along the scenic railway line to Whitby and spend a day exploring the alleyways and cobbled streets which offer an eclectic mix of shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants. Slightly further afield is the bustling market town of Pickering with its historic castle, Dalby Forest with miles of cycle tracks to enjoy and the beautiful Castle Howard. Other pretty market towns worth a visit include Helmsley and Malton which both have a variety of shops and local produce, Malton is fondly known as Yorkshire’s food capital and has regular food fayres. Not forgetting the nearby beaches for you to enjoy.

Step through the front door and you will find an inviting open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner with electric oven and hob, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave and a dining table in front of the double doors leading onto the patio. Cosy up on the stylish sofa and enjoy the warmth of the wood burner and catch up on your favourite TV show or plan your activities for the following day. Venture up the spiral staircase where you will find the gorgeous bedroom with a king-size bed, Smart TV, wonderful views down the valley and a stylish en-suite shower room with shower and WC.

Heading outside there is a lovely south facing decked area to sit and enjoy the fabulous scenery or why not enjoy al fresco dining with a charcoal BBQ on the enclosed patio area. This a great space to enjoy the dark skies enjoyed in this area or to star gaze. There is roadside parking outside the cottage for one car.

Excellent standard of cleanliness and high specification. Jo really friendly and helpful. Good location ideal for walking and near to other areas of interest. View amazing. Would not recommend for anyone with a large dog but ideal for our older staffie.

Enjoyed a marvellous stay and the owners couldn't have been more generous and friendly. Hand sanitisers well located throughout the cottage, and the cleanliness was reassuring given the current circumstances. Very good food available in the village pub. Cottage is in a great location for exploring the Moors and has fantastic views of distant hills. Everything was clean and the cottage is well equipped and cosy. It was clear lots of attention had been paid to Covid requirements. Village location is ideal.

Beautiful cottage, great location, owner (next door) couldnt have been more friendly, locals very welcoming. The Downe Inn which is highly recommend along with a co-op and tea room are literally less than 5 minutes walk from the front door.

2nd time we have stayed at cottage,again a perfect holiday break. Cottage ideal for walks from doorstep,and location allows access to coast and moors. Superb cottage for visitors with dog as the garden area is secure.Owners on hand if any problems arise.

This was a twee/cosy cottage, great for the two of us, situated on the edge of the village, with both the patio and the bedroom offering a beautiful view up the dale toward the moors. This was a view with a cottage attached! We loved the location which was a perfect base for walking in the National Park. The property had almost everything you could want including dishwasher and log burner. The village pub and shops were just minutes walk away and parking right outside made loading very easy. Beautiful cottage in a lovely location, fantastic views. We were made very welcome by the owners. Everything has been done to a very high standard, was very clean with good quality bedding. Lovely walks from the cottage and everyone we saw was friendly, young and old always said hello. Local Co-Op was very handy. Lovely trip to Whitby and enjoyed vRead moreisiting the moors. Fantastic location with wonderful view; parking directly outside in a very convenient village with pub and shop. Lovely garden and decking; perfect for a dog too. Loved it! Lovely welcome by owners with cake and fizz waiting for us. Storm Ciara didnt stop us and provided us with some exhilarating walks! The cottage was very cosy with the log burner used to full effect and central heating. The nearby pub was great and welcoming in Castleton (5 min walk). Will definitely be back.

A comfortable cottage on the edge of a friendly village. The cottage was well fitted out and had all you needed for a comfortable stay. What a wonderful cottage to stay at, the outside is rustic and beautiful to look at with perfect views across the back garden. Lovely cosy cottage with fabulous views up the valley. There are a comprehensive range of walking and cycling guides along with maps in the cottage. Walks and cycles start right at the door. The village has a pub and small supermarket all within 5 minutes walk.

We were at Blakey View at the end of August when the weather became quite hot, but the cottage was lovely and cool inside. Joanne and Michael were friendly and nice without being intrusive. A nice cake and bottle of wine were a really thoughtful welcoming gesture. The cottage is a small but perfectly designed space for two people ( and a dog), with the added benefit of outside space to enjoy the country views. The location of the cottage on a quiet lane off the main road means it is very peaceful, whilst being in the village means the shop and the pub are within a 3 minute walk.

The North Yorkshire Moors is a fabulous area. One we intend to return to. This clean cottage has some of the best views and it is ideally situated for walks, pubs and beautiful bays.

The cottage has been refurbished to a high specification, has a lovely back garden and amazing view along the valley. Joe and her family were lovely and very helpful (they live next door) and she even baked us a cake on arrival. It's a beautiful part of the world and the village is nice, with a good pub, a tea room (nice cooked breakfasts!) and a CRead moreo-op. It's definitely worth a drive up to Danby Beacon, up on the moors from Danby village. We went at sunset and the 360 views were incredible. Hide

Lovely, well equipped cottage in a beautiful location. Easy to access the National Cycling Routes 165 and 1. Great location for walks on the moors and along coast. Frequent bus services and the Esk Valley Trainline mean that you dont need to use your car unless you want to. Friendly and welcoming owners. Highly recommended.
