This traditional barn enjoys a peaceful location set within a cluster of cottages creating the perfect bolt hole for family and friends to enjoy, steeped in history and original features that will simply take your breath away.

Peacefully tucked away in the heart of the Forest, this truly unique property was a former cowshed and is brimming with character. The property is conveniently nestled in a prominent position overlooking the valley, you are well placed within the fringes of the traditional working village of Bream, well served with a traditional village pub, and two convenience stores. An absolute haven for fun seekers with easy access to the cycle trails and down-hill courses that will test the best of mountain bikers, abseiling and caving at Symonds Yat rock, canoeing and a high wire rope course. No matter what the time of year you will be spoilt for choice with a vibrant events calendar, with food festivals to include Abergavenny and Forest Showcase festival, Clearwell Castle is within easy reach and many of the smaller villages host music festivals throughout the summer months. Not forgetting the Hay-on-Wye festival and Cheltenham Gold Cup.

Take in the peace and tranquillity as you arrive at the front door of the converted bull pen, stepping into the porch where you are invited to leave your muddy boots behind. The kitchen forms part of the original bull pen and is brimming with original wooden beams and is well-equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge and dishwasher. A breakfast table takes centre stage and is the perfect base for planning the day ahead. There is a utility room with washing machine additional fridge/freeze and room for dogs to dry off, along with a shower and WC. Step into the lounge which is warm and welcoming with an open fire, cosy sofas, exposed beams and TV/DVD. This area opens onto the dining room where a large wooden table with solid wooden chairs takes centre stage ready for any celebration meal. There is access from the dining room to a snug with TV and sofa bed for occasional guests. When it’s time to say goodnight climb the stairs where you will find a further double with en-suite shower room and WC, two super-king-size zip-and-link bedrooms (which can be made up as twins on request) and a further family room with a double bedroom and additional single bed. Lastly there is a bathroom with shower over bath and WC on this floor.

The cottage is surrounded by mature gardens where you will find a table and chairs with BBQ for dining and a number of benches where you can enjoy the summer sun. After a day of exploring why not relax in your own hot tub or try your hand at star gazing. There is also a 2 acre enclosed area for dogs, a tennis court and secure bicycle storage and washing facilities. There is off-road parking for five cars.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Quirky, comfortable & spacious. Were a family group (2 children, 3 dogs and 5 adults) The games rooms were fab, tennis courts provided a few hours of entertainment. We all loved the hot tub & spent a lovely Sunday evening eating outside around the firepit toasting marshmallows. This is a gorgeous cosy cottage, the setting was beautiful, the hot tub being on all week was such a treat! We were lucky with mild weather so made the most of it and played tennis, went for walks, used the hot tub to the max! The kids loved all the Dr Who bits and bobs- the Darlek was a big hit!! The cottage was fantastic myself & friends loved its quirkiness. Its really well located to amenities & sites in the Forest of Dean. House is lovely & private. Perfect place to have a get together. A great family holiday house. Lots of spaces and things to do for all the family including dogs. Good position to get to interesting places and keep everyone amused. The hot tub was a great hit with everyone. A very friendly and helpful owner, we had a lovely relaxing holiday

The house was exactly as seen on the website. Given we have 3 dogs between us it was an ideally situated property. The owners were very welcoming and helpful but not intrusive even though they live very closely.

Amazing place to stay We loved feeling like we were away from it all as nature has been allowed to take over this magical place We especially loved the hot tub and barbecue area. A stunningly beautiful character cottage with amenities to die for. The cottage was so lovingly put together it was perfect. The hosts were friendly, helpful & made us feel so welcome. Great local sights; Puzzle Wood is awesome, kids will love it. The pool room/library and snug is really comfy with a separate table tennis room next door. Really lovely place: quirky, attractive, well equipped, we enjoyed the tennis court in particular also the hot tub, games room, the pianos, the fire. The owners were very helpful and welcoming indeed. We have stayed in a lot of summer cottages and this was by far the best one. Very dog friendly. All round fantastic. Strongly recommend it.

We went to the Bull Pen with our grown up children and partners and had a wonderful relaxing time. There is plenty to do (hot tub, tennis, table tennis, snooker as well as being handily placed on the SW edge of the Forest of Dean. PERFECT!

Bull pen is kwirky but homely & relaxing. Very well equipped. Louise & Frank are a lovely couple very welcoming. Interesting surroundings lots to see & do. Extra bonus of hot tub, games room & tennis court. Loved the darlek & tardis.
