Attractive detached property sleeping three guests, enjoying a beautiful canal-side location in the Brecon Beacons village of Govilon, just four miles from the popular town of Abergavenny.

This property enjoys a quiet location in the village of Govilon, in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park, with the Abergavenny to Brecon canal passing right outside the windows. The village also lies on the edge of the Blaenafon World Heritage site, which is home to several historic attractions including the Big Pit National Coal Museum, the Blaenafon Heritage Railway, and the Blaenafon Iron Works. Those who enjoy getting out and enjoying the surrounding countryside will be spoilt for choice, with many miles of walks, cycle paths, and opportunities to try climbing, abseiling, canoeing, and caving all within easy reach of the property. For a more restful day trip though, why not pay a visit to nearby Abergavenny, which has, in recent years, built an excellent culinary reputation.

Three external steps lead to the front door of this property, bringing guests inside this welcoming cottage. The lounge is an attractive dual-aspect room, the focal point of which are the views over the canal and to the mountains beyond. There is a warming wood burner in this room, as well as a TV/DVD for guests to enjoy. Meanwhile, the kitchen/diner is a homely room with a dining table at one end and a pleasant kitchen area at the other, offering a double oven, hob, microwave, and fridge/freezer. The bathroom, with shower and WC, is situated on the first floor of the cottage, as are the property’s two bedrooms. The first of these is a cosy double room which has a romantic feel to it, and a sloping ceiling (and therefore some reduced head-height). The second bedroom is a restful single room which benefits from its own TV, perfect for late-night film watching.

There is a small patio area just outside the cottage, and direct access to the canal-side. There is roadside parking available close to the property.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

  • 2 bedrooms:  1 double and 1 single
  • Bathroom with shower and WC
  • TV/DVD, plus additional TV in the single bedroom
  • Wi-Fi included
  • Wood burner with first basket of logs included
  • Oven, hob, microwave, and fridge/freezer
  • Regret no washing machine
  • Highchair available upon request with the owner prior to your stay
  • Bed linen, electric, and central heating included
  • 2 dogs welcome (a dog bowl, bed and towels can be provided upon request at no extra charge)
  • Small enclosed patio area
  • Roadside parking
  • Shops and pub within walking distance

Although surprisingly exposed to the village community for a cottage whose photos suggest greater seclusion, I cannot fault the presentation of this property by its owners. They had done all in their power to make it a comfortable and welcoming environment. The only two drawbacks, the very sloping ceiling of the double bedroom and the fact that theRead more dogs had to be taken out on the lead for every wee wee are beyond the proprietors power to change. In fact, I spent a very agreeable , restful week. Hide

Lovely location, pretty views from the window. The cottage was very warm and cosy, the games kept our 8 year old entertained. We enjoyed walking along the canal to the wharf 's.

We stayed three nights with our 3 year old and baby. The house was perfect. Very warm, very well equipped and brilliantly located with walks straight out the door as well as a short drive away. Theres lots in the house for kids and the owners made extra effort to accommodate them and us. Wed highly recommend this to others.

A wonderful cottage in a great position. The only down side was the ceiling height in the main bedroom, which even I found a problem and I'm only 5' 5"! However the other aspects made up for that. It was wonderful to be able to sit and watch the canal boats pass the window. A great place for walking too.

The cottage is lovely and welcoming, very well equipped including even dog bed and bowls. It has character so feels like you're on holiday. Plenty of easy reach walks and places of interest. Great place to stay with dogs. Helpful welcome pack and lots of things for amusement. Would definitely stay again.

A very quirky little cottage with every thing you could hope for. A beautiful place with lots of walks for the dogs. Will definitly go back as still lots more we want to do as restricted to how far we could walk as our elderly dog could not walk too far but she managed to do the green walk allong the old railway line which surprised us , she was noRead moret going to give in. The bedroom has a sloping roof which my husband who is quite tall had to negotiate, which inreased the charm. Hide

A truly idyllic cottage next to the canal and perfect for a lovely holiday as you watch the boats go past. So glad we took our bikes as we enjoyed bike rides down the canal looking at the stunning countryside of Wales. The cottage is a beautiful home and you are welcomed by the owners. Would highly recommend.

The cottage was wonderful. The owners left tea, coffee, milk, Welsh cakes and flowers as a welcome gift. The cottage is fully equipped and we loved sitting in front of the fire watching the canal boats and ducks go by.

A cosy well equipped cottage, a warm welcome from the owners and the perfect location to start exploring mid and South Wales. We loved our little home for the week, watching the canal boats pass by. Theres loads to do all within easy reach of the cottage, great walks, and a friendly local pub which has great food and cheap beer. A lovely spot.

What a wonderful place to stay. Right by the Monmouth & Brecon Canal. The property is very nice but the only downside was that we didn't get to use the lovely wood burner as the weather was too hot. Great base for exploring the Brecon Beacons & Black Mountains also for lovely walks along the canal.

Lovely cottage with everything you could possibly need for a holiday. The cleanest and best kept cottage we've stayed in. Appreciated the little touches (welcome pack, board games, DVDs, local area and history books). Loved being so close to the canal - lots to sit and watch or enjoy a towpath walk. Handy village shop which is open late and the BriRead moredge pub does good food and is very reasonable. Friendly locals. Hide
