A delightful haven on the fringes of the incredible North York Moors, offering friends and family a dreamy escape from the rhythm of everyday life.

Located in the picturesque village of Helmsley, boutiques, dining opportunities and attractions are easily accessible. Make your way through the streets, lined with independent shops and cafes, and enjoy the laidback atmosphere. Half a mile away, Helmsley Castle invites you to unlock 900 years of history and tales, and just a few hundred yards further on from there Helmsley Walled Garden is a real treat. Naturally, with such diverse landscapes to explore from country to coast, the North York Moors National Park is bursting with walks, trails and activities for all the family.

Drop your bags and head indoors; a light, bright and comfortable home awaits. Blending traditional comforts with modern style, you can immediately make yourselves at home and settle in. Starting your tour in the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, bag a spot on either the sumptuous sofa or wide armchair and chill out in front of the wood burner. Wi-Fi access offers the ability to get online and share updates with friends, while a Smart TV provides light entertainment for all the family. For more traditional relaxation, there is also a varied selection of books and magazines. Next to the lounge, a Smartly-designed, horseshoe kitchen is equipped with all manner of mod cons to make your holiday as smooth as possible, including an oven, hob, dishwasher and fridge with icebox. A handy washing machine is also installed, just the trick after a bike ride or moorland stroll! Nestled in a snug alongside the kitchen, a small dining table is a lovely addition. Boasting heated oak flooring as well as the wood burner, you can enjoy total comfort throughout the year. Located upstairs are the property's two bedrooms. The ultra-stylish master bedroom has a king-size bed and fabulous walk-in wardrobe, while the pretty second bedroom has a bunk bed, with two full-size singles. Also upstairs is the wet-room, with a generously-sized walk-in monsoon shower and a WC.

Spoilt for choice for outside space, this property benefits from two garden areas. The first is a small, open garden with a bench to the front of the property, while the second is a beautiful, contemporary rear garden with patio and table chairs. A real haven, the second garden, in particular, is a wonderful spot to enjoy some lunch alfresco or sit with a G&T in the sunshine. For the final cherry on the cake, there is also a BBQ. Off-road parking is included with space for one car.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

This property is set in the gorgeous market town of Helmsley, a real picture-postcard place with lots to do and see. Nestled perfectly at the foot of the North York Moors National Park, but just 24 miles north of York, its timeless elegance is a magnet to tourists, artists and photographers alike. Helmsley is a foodie heaven, packed with exquisite tea-rooms, cafes and on the pulse organic delis. It's also surrounded by some of the best gastro pubs in the UK. Tucked alongside these culinary delights are lots of unique shops, art galleries and antique dealers, easily enough to build up an appetite for lunch. Throw in a castle, a chic little micro-brewery and some of the most stunning countryside in the UK into the mix and you might just have the perfect holiday location.

At the heart of the town square is a statue of Lord Feversham, a distant ancestor of the current Lord who resides in Duncombe Park. This stunning baroque mansion sits on the outskirts of town and is a good choice for an afternoon's sightseeing. If you want to indulge in some more architectural desires, the equally grand Nunnington Hall a few miles south east of the town is another grand abode worth a peek. The neighbouring town of Pickering is similar in many ways and is host to its own delightful set of shops, cafes and restaurants. A few miles further on takes you to Thornton-Le-Dale, a picture-perfect North York Moors village with thatched houses and a sleepy little brook. Stop for some ice cream here and remind yourself how nice life in the slow lane feels like. With the North York Moors on your doorstep, you can be heading for a jaunt over the hills in no time. This glorious expanse of heather-clad countryside is simply stunning, and it's well worth taking some time to explore it properly.

Somewhat smaller than the Yorkshire Dales, the North Yorkshire Moors still cover an area of almost 600 square miles and like the Dales you can easily find yourself miles from anywhere relatively quickly. But there is something distinctly more civilised and less remote about the Moors. There is a sense of wilderness, particularly on top of the high central moorlands, but its cast in comforting soft focus.

COCO cottage was perfect. Close to the centre of Helmsley, with its lovely tea rooms and restaurants, and easy to strike out from for days walking or sightseeing. The cottage was both light and airy but cosy at the same time, with a lovely little garden - perfect for a nice cup of tea after a hard day out!

Coco is a lovely cottage in a great location, just a very short walk from the town centre. The cottage was probably a little bit too small for us as our two children are a bit older, but this didn't spoil our holiday in any way.
