There's a gorgeous traditional stone fireplace with a wood burner nestled inside which you can light to keep you both cosy, plus a TV with Sky that you can watch together curled up on the sofa. Situated on the Duirinish peninsula overlooking Loch Pooltiel, you will be ideally positioned to explore some of the most dramatic landscapes the west coast of Skye has to offer. Certain to have overseen and mastered some of this drama is Neist Point Lighthouse, one of the most famous lighthouses in all of Scotland. Only 3 miles from the cottage, this beautiful spectacle really is a must-visit if you're staying in this area, especially at sunset.

For the wildlife and nature enthusiast, the Glendale estate 2.5 miles away has been classed as the most likely place on Skye for seeing whales, dolphins, seals, sea otters and basking sharks. Glendale encompasses steep cliffs with displays from golden eagles, sea eagles, kestrels and buzzards to carpets of wild flowers including bluebells, primroses, heathers and varieties of orchid.

If you are looking to see traditional Scottish heritage then Dunvegan which lies 10 miles from the cottage, offers an array of sites and experiences to try. Famously known for its castle, this village offers a variety of restaurants using local produce, hotels, shops and galleries. Just north of Dunvegan and perfect for a picnic is the beautiful coral beach of Claigan. Made from crushed white coral with its clear waters, it is deemed to be one of the most beautiful coastal locations on Skye and must be seen to be believed.

Colquhoune's Byre is a remote peaceful cottage. It has everything you need for 2 people and is a great base to explore the area. We were in a good location for Neist point and the 3 restaurants we wanted to visit. Views all along the single track road were amazing and lots of interesting places to explore.

The cottage was well equipped with everything we needed. The view was stunning. We could sit outside for the meals and had no troubles with midges. The bath was small but that was no problem. We would definitely come back.

The cottage was clean and well stocked with everything we could possibly need. Very comfortable and cosy. A really lovely cottage right at the top of Skye, it has the most wonderful views and deer came into the garden on a few occasions. The accommodation is just what you would expect for the price with a well equipped kitchen and a lovely wood burning stove, it was a bit of a squeeze with a baby and dog but that was our choice as we knew the cottage wRead moreas described for two people. We had a problem whilst there but the owner was quick to respond and deal with it which I was impressed with. We had a lovely stay in Colquhoune's Byre. The scenery around it is stunning and we actually had a visit from some deer. The Byre itself is charming and quite well appointed although the shower cubicle is very small. One of us is over six feet tall and had to watch his head moving through doorways. The weather turned very cold and the heating was nRead moreot quite adequate but we were warm during sleep because the bed had a great duvet. We also found the directions to the cottage a little confusing but a helpful local pointed the way. The local shop is a veritable Tardis and stocks everything one would need. One very good thing was the range of books about walks on Skye in the cottage - we found the one on short walks fabulous. We visited all over the island but especially recommend Glenbrittle Beach and Dunvegan Castle. Hide

Excellent little cottage for 2 cosy with a wood burning stove and the bed and bedding was so comfortable . No O2 signal in the cottage and the Wi-fi doesn't really work so excellent for getting away from it all. Beautiful location

Fully enjoyed our stay. The house is comfortable and has everything you need. Bed is comfortable and the living room with open kitchen makes very good use of the available space.
