Escape to this pretty rural retreat that is one of five set on a working farm. Rural views across to the Peak District add to the beauty of this country setting, ideal for anyone searching for a peaceful break.

If walking in the countryside is your thing then you might well have found the perfect place with an abundance of footpaths and bridleways that meander through the surrounding area. Just half a mile away from the cottage, you’ll find the Churnet Valley Steam Railway, a great way to see the area. At the bottom of the valley is the Caldon Canal with a waterside footpath to follow. Visit the Dovedale stepping stones across the border in the Peak District. For a city day out, travel to Stoke, Derby or Stafford.

 Step into the entrance porch offering space to store muddy boots and coats and wander into the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. The kitchen space offers everything you need to rustle up a hearty meal during your stay, including an electric oven and hob, microwave and fridge with an ice compartment. Relax on the sofa with the wood burner and TV for cosy evenings in. There is a drop-leaf table situated nearby where you can enjoy a leisurely breakfast. Head up the stairs to the double bedroom with a beautiful Juliette balcony with stunning views over the valley. There is a handy en-suite bathroom with a shower over the bath and a WC.

Outside there is seating providing a lovely spot to relax in the fresh air. Situated a short walk away is the shared garden and an enclosed dog exercise paddock. Shared indoor play barn and outdoor seating area with fire pit and BBQ coming in winter 2021. There is off-road parking for two cars.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

We had a lovely stay . The linen etc. was nice and clean, the family that run the cottages were very friendly and helpful. You do have to drive to most places but driving to Buxton (for example )is not like driving on the M6 !! The views are beautiful so driving is not really an issue. We would definitely like to go back. The family that run the coRead morettages haven't had them very long and are finding there feet in the holiday letting world so we wish them every success, Mr & Mrs Ross Tamworth. Hide

What a lovely family run business, we were warmly welcomed in a modern up to date 15 century farm, with yumi home made brownies, tea coffee ect. With stunning views and close access to the Peak district. Sam the farm dog was a joy for our dogs to play with in the dog paddock we will miss him. Would love to visit again in the future.

August 2021 Just returned from a last minute break at Hermitage farm. We had a fantastic stay. Really dog friendly, everything was catered for our and our dogs needs. Owners were super friendly and helpful, would highly recommend. Sam, Lee, TT &Buddy
