Five-star stable conversion property sleeping four guests, located in a quiet courtyard close to the centre of Knaresborough and just seconds from the town’s medieval castle.

This property enjoys a fantastic location tucked away in an historic cobbled courtyard in the market town of Knaresborough in North Yorkshire. Although in a secluded spot, the property is just a short stroll from the towns shops, restaurants, and dog-friendly pubs as well as the castle and the courthouse museum. The town sits high on the clifftop overlooking the River Nidd where you can hire a boat or pay a visit to Mother Shipton's Cave. Harrogate is just a 15 minute bus ride away.

The front door of this property opens directly into the cosy lounge/diner, a comfortable room with a travertine stone floor, TV/DVD and DAB radio. From this room guests continue onto the contemporary kitchen which is situated in what was once the stables harness room,  fully equipped with an oven, hob, microwave, and fridge/freezer. The washer/dryer, meanwhile, can be found in a separate utility room. The first of the property's two bedrooms can also be found downstairs, an attractive super-king room which can be made up as a twin room on request and benefits from an en-suite wet room which not only has a shower and WC but also boasts an adjoining 2 person sauna, an unusual addition offering the very best in relaxation. Galleried stairs from the front door lead up to the first floor which is occupied entirely by the master bedroom suite. This second super-king-size room, like the ground-floor bedroom, has the flexibility to made up as a twin room on request, and offers an en-suite bathroom with a double-ended bath, handheld shower, and WC.

Outside, there is a small courtyard garden to the front of the property for which garden furniture is provided, allowing guests space to enjoy alfresco drinks. There is space to store two bikes and off-road parking for one car.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Please note there is a refundable £100 security deposit for this property payable closer to the start of your holiday.

  • 2 super-king bedrooms (can be made up as twin rooms on request)
  • En-suite wet room with shower, 2 person sauna, and WC
  • TV/DVD and DAB radio
  • Wi-Fi included
  • Oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, and washer in separate laundry room
  • Bed linen, towels, and heating included
  • Cot and highchair available on request
  • 1 dog welcome
  • Bike storage for 2 bikes
  • Off-road parking available
  • Pubs and shops within easy walking distance

Dray Cottage suited us perfectly for our week in Yorkshire to watch the Cycling World Championships. The cottage had everything we needed. Comfy beds, & lovely fresh towels. Jackie and Richard are such welcoming hosts with loads of local knowledge of good eating places and sites to visit. They try to ensure that you have everything you need and are always on hand if you need any assistance. Would thoroughly recommend them to my friends and family.

A great location - not only within easy walking distance of shops, restaurants and the train station (day trips to Harrogate and York without the parking headache) but also for stunning walks along the Nidd valley.
