Stunning detached barn conversion sleeping five guests, located in the beautiful medieval village of Cartmel, and only 6.5 miles from Lakeside on the southern shore of Lake Windermere.

This property is close to the centre of the medieval village of Cartmel, one of the region’s best-loved villages. The village is a well-known destination for keen foodies thanks to the fantastic choice of highly-regarded restaurants and pubs, as well as specialist food shops. The village’s Norman priory is well worth a visit, especially for those with an interest in architecture. The village is also home to a racecourse, which hold meets on bank holidays and hosts other events throughout the year. Of course, the region’s main attraction is the lakes, and the village lies just 6.5 miles south of Lake Windermere. Head to Lakeside, from where visitors can take a steamer trip around the lake, a relaxing way to enjoy the picturesque scenery.

Guests approach this property directly from the village square, tucked away it is a peaceful location near the stream with private off road parking and a fully enclosed private garden. Once inside guests will find themselves in a hallway, off from which they will discover the stylish lounge/diner where huge floor-to-ceiling windows flood the room with light and look out onto the courtyard. A large inviting sofa and armchairs provide guests with a relaxing place to sit, whilst the entertainment is provided by a TV/DVD and hi-fi with iPod dock. The dining table sits in the window across the room from the lounge area and has ample space for five diners. The kitchen can be found just across the hallway, a sleek space with a contemporary feel, which is equipped with an oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, coffee machine, washing machine, and tumble dryer. There is also a second dining space in the kitchen and a patio door which leads out to the walled garden. Guests pass the ground-floor cloakroom with WC on their way up the stairs which lead to the bedrooms on the first floor, all of which have been finished to a high standard to create comfortable sanctuary-like spaces, each with its own TV/DVD. The first of these is the master king-size room which benefits from an en-suite shower room with shower and WC. The second bedroom is a double room, whilst the third is a restful single. The bathroom can also be found on the first floor, and offers a shower-over-bath and WC.

Doors from the kitchen lead out to the walled garden, a tranquil private space where guests can relax over alfresco meals whilst children play on the lawn. There is garden furniture and a BBQ provided. There is rare off-road parking for two cars, further paid parking in the nearby village car park.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

This cottage is centrally located in the village. Yes - the parking is awkward to get to but is a huge plus for the location. The village itself has everything you need but yet still keeps the quaint feeling. The cottage is perfect for small families with a dog. Really lovely cottage in great location, very comfortable and well equipped, lovely and warm, with good quality everything. Very dog friendly, safe and enclosed garden, fantastic walks straight from Cartmel. Charlotte the host is really friendly and very helpful, and just next door.

Great place in the heart of Cartmel. Pubs, shops and restaurants literally on your doorstep. With none of the unwanted noise at night. Tricky parking initially but that can't take away from Ford Barn's allure. Dog had a great time too. Love to go back!

A lovely cottage right in the heart of Cartmel. Well appointed and looked after. Plenty of good dog walking in the area and the ones we used were gates rather than stiles, easier for Tilly to get through and meant no climbing for us! A lovely cheese and bread shop and local brewery just down the road. The village store is 50 yards away and does takRead moreeaway soup, very welcome at the end of a wet walk! Delightful cottage, immaculately appointed in a most attractive and busy village with plenty of amenities. The cottage let us and our two dogs wanting for very little with places to eat, walk and visit all at hand. The only reason not to recommend Ford Barn is we don't want it so busy we cannot get to go back!

This property couldn't be in a better location. Nestled between two pubs and within easy walking distance of a couple of shops. Dog walks from the house were brilliant with off lead options available. The house is clean and very well appointed!

We had a lovely stay at the cottage! The village is cute and has everything you need in short walking distances. The cottage is homely and peaceful right in the middle of the village, but feeling very removed and tranquil. The owners were also super helpful and friendly, wonderful hosts. Only small downside was that when we arrived nothing was set Read moreup for our toddler, but this was quickly rectified. Also, the carpets had lots of dog hair which the cleaners hadn't properly cleaned before our stay. Hide

Had a lovely week at Ford Barn. Beautiful Cottage in a beautiful village. Especially good for our 4 legged friend, Millie the laboradoodle! We had some delicious food in the Cavendish Ams, The Royal Oak, Cartmel Coffee and especially Rogan & Co. Also enjoyed lovely walks from the racecourse through the countryside.
