A unique stay to excite all the family, discover the mysterious spiral staircases, fairy tale turrets and original 16th-century transcriptions in this stunning converted castle.

Built in 1598 by the second son of John Grant of Freuchie this castle was the original seat of the Grants of Rothiemurchus whose motto “In God Is All My Trust"" can still be seen above the entrance. Like something plucked out of a picture book, this it is surrounded by one acre of Scottish scenery and offers plenty of outdoor activities from the doorstep. Situated in the Cairngorms National Park, find activities such as horse riding, mountain biking, clay pigeon shooting, fishing, watersports and much more within close proximity. Head to award-winning Glenlivet whisky distillery or partake in a spot of skiing – unique to the Scottish Highlands. Keen walkers will rush to hike the local Ben Macdui, the second-highest mountain peak in the United Kingdom, and those looking for iconic castles and cathedrals can head to Inverness, just 30 miles away.

The ground floor of this stunning property features a central kitchen, spacious conservatory and small WC. The kitchen doubles up as a sociable dining room and sits under a unique vaulted ceiling of white exposed stone. Utilities are set against wood-panelled kitchen units, and include a fridge, freezer, electric oven, ceramic hob, microwave and dishwasher. A spacious dining table is a wonderful space for ten guests to enjoy a family meal or a relaxed breakfast. The ground floor is also home to a contemporary conservatory, the perfect space to relax in the warmer months. Patio doors along one conservatory wall offer wonderful views of the surrounding enclosed garden and far-reaching landscape. Find the first of three spiral staircases in this space, which leads to a utility room within a small tower with washing machine/dryer and space to hang clothes. From the kitchen, head up to the second spiral staircase to access the grand hall, an extravagant lounge plucked straight out of a medieval castle. The cosy room offers an abundance of seating, a wood burning stove and TV with DVD. The impressive master bedroom can be found on the second floor, via another narrow spiral staircase. This room offers an antique four-poster bed and luxury roll-top bath, a truly romantic room for the Lord and Lady of the house. This floor boasts a modern shower room, with WC. The final spiral staircase takes you to the third floor, where you'll find two twin bedrooms with hand basins, a modern bathroom and, off to the side into the square tower, two cosy bunk bedrooms for children.

One acre of grounds surround the property, including a large enclosed garden space in which to enjoy the warmer weather or allow dogs to burn off some energy.

The castle was spotless comfy and cosy, the grandchildren loved the whole castle experience. Had some great days out on the sledges with all the snow we had. Just loved the place.

After a few days in bustling London and Edinburgh, the slow pace of the country was just what we wanted.
