Stylish semi-detached barn conversion property, an ideal couple’s getaway, in a quiet countryside location on a working farm, within an easy drive of beaches at Bude and Westward Ho!

This property is one of three barn conversion holiday cottages located at the end of a farm track on the owner’s farm, which is just one mile from the Devonshire village of Shebbear. There is plenty to see and do within a thirty minute drive of the property, including the traditional harbour town of Bideford, where there is an interesting array of independent shops, and from where it possible to take a boat trip out to the wildlife rich island of Lundy, with its resident seal colony. The privately owned, traffic-free, village of Clovelly is also within a thirty minute drive, as are the sandy beaches of Bude and Westward Ho!

This stylish barn conversion property provides spacious and comfortable accommodation for a couple, with some lovely original features. On the ground floor, the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner is a lovely relaxing space, with two separate seating areas, one in front of the cosy woodburner, and the other offering somewhere to enjoy the TV and DVD. At the opposite end of the room, there is a dining table seating four, and a well equipped kitchen with an oven and hob, American-style fridge/freezer, microwave and dishwasher. A washing machine, tumble dryer, and an ironing board, as well as a range of DVDs, books, games, and wellingtons for guests to borrow can be found in a separate shared laundry room onsite. Stairs lead up to a galleried first floor bedroom, a lovely king-size room with exposed beams, a TV and DVD. An en-suite bathroom offers a roll-top bath, as well as a separate shower cubicle and WC.

Outside, there is a spacious sunny courtyard with garden furniture and a BBQ, making it a wonderful spot to enjoy alfresco drinks or meals during the summer months. Guests are also able to make use of the owner’s 12 acres of woodland, and neighbouring paddock, which make a great space for exercising dogs. There is ample parking provided.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Fantastic barn conversion with everything you need. Also brilliant for the dog as very nice enclosed patio area with good seating. The wood is fantastic, all fenced so felt very safe with letting the dog off lead. Would definitely book again.

Well equipped cottage and very clean, if staying during Covid times then bring your own DVDs and games if required, the log burner was brilliant but further logs are at a charge, but reasonable. Would definitely recommend and we would love to return.

Lovely, comfortable accommodation. The woodburner is particularly good and we spent a cosy weekend indoors as the weather was very wet and windy. Access to the woodland area on the doorstep for walking your dog was a really great feature.... we used it every day. Wellies essential though!

Beautiful barn, had everything we needed. Loved the extra touches like milk, eggs and even dog treats on arrival. Made to feel welcome. Perfect for us and our two dogs. Great base for exploring Devon.

An extremely comfortable cottage with everything you could possibly want provided. The location gives you access to so many beaches but is in a very quiet location. Bude has all the supermarkets and beach cafes you could want and there are many wild beaches nearby. I highly recommend this property.

We had an amazing time at this stunning cottage. Although it is literally in the middle of nowhere that was exactly what we were after and gave us a real opportunity to unwind. The cottage had everything we needed and the woodland was fantastic for our two dogs to run around in every day.

Perfect for dogs with onsite walk around orchard. Clean and warm, with log burner. Slate flooring in kitchen and dining room area, with carpet in lounge area- perfect for dogs. Enclosed front and rear garden. About 30 min drive from Bude, which is nearest beach, lovely walks in cliffs. About an hour and half to Saunton sands, which is dog friendly Read moresandy beach about 3 and half miles long. Tarka trail nearby. Location of cottage does mean you have to drive everywhere, but well worth it. Hide

Very relaxing place to be. The cottage is beautiful and very well equipped there was nothing we needed to ask for and it was lovely and clean. The local pub is very welcoming and we discovered a mobile chip van comes to the village on a Wednesday night (the fish and chips we had were wonderful). I dont think anyone could fail to enjoy a stay and ifRead more we are able we will most definitely return. Hide

We loved the cottage which was really comfortable and well furnished. Nice little touches such as fresh eggs The grounds are great for the dogs. Take your wellies. It is a little hideaway as the name suggests some of the lanes are winding and narrow we were ok in our 4x4 ! Definitely worth taking a supply of food. Lots of places to explore nearby, Read morewe normally stay the Exmoor side of Devon so it was nice to be able to venture into Cornwall , Tintagel and boscastle are well worth a visit. Hide

Hideaway Barn was a really great choice for a 5 day break this summer. It was painstakingly equipped to a very high standard and very comfortable. The surrounding woods were a delight to explore with our young retriever.
