A true country idyll near Bridport, this streamside cottage welcomes solo visitors and couples to enjoy a peaceful break from the rhythm of everyday life.

Located in a small village in West Dorset, this property boasts great access to a diverse range of scenes. Head 5 miles away to West Bay and stroll along the beach. Once you’ve walked all you can walk, drive a couple of miles further down the coast and treat yourself to a hot chocolate at a beachside cafe. For an insight into local history and unmissable views, visit Eggardon Hill, 3.5 miles away, the site of an Iron Age hill fort. Closer to home, a popular dog-friendly pub is only 400 metres away from your front door.

A little pathway through a private garden takes you to the front of the cottage. Step into the porch and shake off your coats and boots before heading into the lounge. A spacious, welcoming room, the lounge is kitted out with two comfortable arm chairs and a sofa so you can find your perfect spot. In winter, a wood burner provides extra atmosphere and warmth as you unwind with your favourite book. The lounge is also equipped with a  TV and DVD player, so you can catch up on your favourite soap or watch a film. Passing through the lounge, a step up will take you into the kitchen. With a dining table for two and plenty of space for cooking or chatting with a glass of wine, you will immediately make yourself at home. Well-provisioned with everything you could need for your stay, there is an oven with a hob, microwave, fridge, toaster and kettle for you to use, and in the adjoining utility room, a dishwasher, washing machine and freezer. Heading back to the lounge, the bathroom can also be found on the ground floor. Separated into two rooms, the first has a bath with a shower over the bath and the second has a WC. Steep cottage style stairs lead upstairs, you will find the bedroom. Here, neutral tones are complemented with open beams and pretty details to create a relaxing space. Featuring slightly reduced head height set in the eaves, the bedroom has a double bed for you to sink into for a cosy night’s sleep.

Walking out through the utility room you will reach the property’s rear garden. Sit back with a cup of tea around the outside table and listen to the gentle gurgle of the stream running through the garden.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Some great improvements made since our last visit - better lights, bigger tv, shoe rack in porch - all good! Some info on working the DVD player would be useful - when we eventually got a picture we had no sound so gave up! We always enjoy staying at the Pightle and will be back. Many thanks.

A superbly equipped cottage, perfect for a couple and a small dog. I was most impressed with the thought that had gone into it. Key safe entry is a dream. Charming village and a great out of town base for the coast.

This is a lovely village, friendly neighbors and a great area for walking. As expected, the cottage is small and has everything you may reasonably expect. The stairs really are steep and challenging for old knees, made more difficult with the bathroom being downstairs. The bedroom is good, plenty of storage, bed is comfortable (thankfully we broughRead moret our own pillows) but the chairs and settee (sofa bed!) in the living room are not particularly comfortable and smelled strongly of dog. A delightful little cottage in a lovely village. My tall husband struggled with the low doors in narrow door frames and is still nursing several grazes to his head but I thought it was a perfect escape. A lovely quaint cottage, ideal for two. Fantastic pub just down the road. Only problem was bad timing on our part. First bank holiday post lockdown, everywhere was really busy and pub fully booked for meals.

We had a wonderful week away. The cottage is small and perfect for two, very quiet location and easy to access everything this part of Dorset has to offer. Great pub down the road who did everything to get takeaways to us in this last week of lockdown and torrential rain!

Lovely little cottage, perfect for week away with our dog. Spotlessly clean and very well equipped. Gorgeous garden with stream, nice for sitting out when weather allows. The Crown pub was offering meals outside which were great given current restrictions. Very friendly pub. Lovely walks and beaches within easy reach, check for restrictions for dogRead mores. Ideal for a couple for a short stay to use as a quiet base for walking and visiting the Jurassic Coast area. Quiet village with a pub a short walk away ( need to book!). On road parking adjacent to property. Recommend arrival in daylight as entrance to property is at the rear and not suitable for wheelchair use. Steep staircase to bedroom.

If you are a walker and especially a dog-owner, the cottage is perfectly situated for some lovely walks. There is the disused railway line close by and walks along the river and at the foot of the lynchets. The villagers are friendly and the Crown Inn, just a few steps away, serves the most delicious food and the hosts are very welcoming.

Small but clean and tidy. Steep narrow stairs, so I don't recommend it to the anyone who isn't very stable. Quiet with excellent public footpaths to walk with your dog.
