Traditional thatched cottage set within a village location, perfectly situated to offer a blend of country and coastal getaway for families, with many of the Jurassic Coast’s attractions within easy reach.

Sitting between three quaint villages, this brick and thatched cottage enjoys a peaceful location whilst being conveniently situated to explore many of the local attractions on offer. Located on a cobbled lane off the village street, you can venture 4 miles south to arrive at the picture-perfect Lulworth Cove with its blue waters and stunning unique geology to explore or try your hand at some water sports. Just 3.3 miles away you can enjoy a trip to the popular hot spot that is Durdle Door; one of the Jurassic Coast’s most photographed and iconic landmarks. What’s more, you can travel just 11.5 miles to arrive in Weymouth or 17.5 miles in the opposite direction to reach Poole, so you won’t be short of family-friendly experiences.

Step inside this pretty chocolate-box cottage to be greeted by equally as attractive interiors throughout, creating a homely space to be enjoyed by the whole family. Featuring eyebrow dormer windows and 2ft thick walls, this former farm building retains an abundance of character. Upon entry you’ll step into the cosy lounge complete with a traditional fireplace housing a wood burner, so you can fire it up of an evening and settle down in front of the TV with DVD. There are also plenty of DVDs and games to keep you entertained. Behind the lounge sits a compact dining area where you can enjoy family dining after you’ve cooked up a storm in the traditional, yet well-equipped kitchen area. When the day is done, make your way upstairs to take your pick of the two restful double bedrooms; both cosy under the eaves of the cottage. The first floor is also home to the house bathroom complete with bath and shower overhead, so you can enjoy indulgent soaks of an evening. Please note, the cottage has low beams and doorways throughout, with a steep cottage-style staircase leading to the first floor.

Outside, you can enjoy the quaint Mediterranean-style walled garden that is a real sun trap during the warmer months. The garden is enclosed, so it’s a perfect space to let the dogs enjoy a runaround. Throw down a picnic blanket and enjoy family afternoons in the sun or simply soak up the peace and quiet as you enjoy your favourite book or glossy magazine. Roadside parking is available.

We LOVED this cottage. Very comfortable, all our needs anticipated. Loved the log fire and having the walled garden was ideal for our wee escape artist dog. Very close to the coast where we enjoyed fab walks. Had sunday lunch in the Red Lion, not the best ever, but for a carvery, later in the afternoon it was pretty good. Found all the people we metRead more locally very friendly. I would definitely return to this property. If I had one wee word of caution, it would be the stairs are VERY steep. Hide

The cottage is very well equiped and very clean . It was lovely to have welcome roses and milk and biscuits provided. The lounge and two bedrooms are lovely and a good size. The kitchen is very small and dark unfortunately. The bathroom is fine . The stairs are very steep and I think this should be mentioned in the details. The small courtyard gardRead moreen is pretty and got the sun even in November. It was totally private. The cottage is part of another one , but photos don't show this. Hide

We had a lovely time at Milton Cottage: it is clean, quiet, and perfectly located for visiting beaches such as Durdle Door. We - and our dog - were made to feel very welcome there. Highly recommended.

We stayed for a week with two young children. Perfect for them as it was clean, had EVERYTHING you could ever think of needing and the garden was secure for playing. We cooked dinner there most nights and loved spending time in the cottage. Such a wonderful holiday!
