Leyburn is home to the enchanting Forbidden Corner, Middleham Castle and the peaceful Harmby Waterfall alongside plenty of independent shops and eateries, you could easily spend your days here.

From historic Yorkshire barn to unique holiday home, this cottage has been lovingly restored to create a truly welcoming home from home. All of the accommodation is set across one floor with the impressive open-plan living space encompassing the lounge, kitchen and dining area at its heart. The bathroom is home to an elliptical bath and incredible infrared sauna so you can truly indulge when the day is done. The second bedroom is a spacious twin complete with en-suite shower room.

The property enjoys an idyllic location in the Yorkshire Dales. Set in an elevated position, the cottage looks out onto the lush green pastures of Wensleydale with amazing views to be had in every direction.

Just over 1 mile away in the village of Finghall, there is a tiny rural train station where you can hop aboard the Wensleydale steam trains. Heaven for kids and rather delightful for adults too, you can head up to Leyburn for lunch before taking the train back home again.

The attractive town of Bedale is 7 miles away and is worth a visit. Stop for a coffee before making your way around the town's antique shops. In the opposite direction, you'll find Leyburn (4 miles), an archetypical slice of Dales market town life. Here you'll find traditional shops, pubs and cafes all gathered around the handsome town square, which hosts a busy market every Friday. Alternatively, visit the historic town of Richmond (11.5 miles) which has a tranquil setting along the River Swale.

There are lots of other pretty villages and stunning natural sights all within close range of the property. Aysgarth Falls and Bolton Castle are both under 11.5 miles away and the pretty villages of East Witton, West Burton and Askrigg are all under 16 miles, so there are lots of choices for things to do if you want to get out and about. If walking is your thing, the Yorkshire Dales are something of a walker's paradise and you can strike out from the door of this luxury Wensleydale cottage. And there are plenty of options for cycling too in Tour De France country, with a myriad of gastro pubs to stop off at along the way.

This is a beautiful cottage in a beautiful location. I could quite easily give this cottage a 10/10 if a few luxuries were added. To have a hot tub, it would be lovely for bathrobes to be provided. Although Netflix and Prime are advRead moreertised, you have to have your own account to watch them. Only 3 wine glasses were provided, there were 4 of us staying, (although the owner did provide one on the 2nd day). A full height shower would be beneficial in the en-suite. The location of the cottage is idyllic, peaceful and quiet. We did have a few problems whilst there which when you are paying as much as we did for a short break was a little diasapointing. These were:A set of 3 rusty pans which you could not use, although once the owner was informed he went straight out and bought a new set, these pans had obviousRead morely been like that for a while so not only had previous guests not informed him the equipment is obviously not checked regularly.Only 3 wine glasses, even though there were 4 people staying as above. No logs for the fire on arrival which we were told would be brought later but did not arrive until we chased for them.On arrival we had 1 and abit toilet roll between us all, again told that somewuld be put in the boot store but we ended up buying some.We were unable to use the hot tub for the majority of the stay as it was too cold, were told on arrival that the hot tub would not be hot enough as it had just been filed again, whilst we appreciate that cleanliness is utmost this was again not what we were expecting. We were only able to use the hot tub on Saturday afternoon and as two of us were unable to stay on Sunday, the hot tub was not hot enough again until the owner came back and turned the hot tub on late on Sunday when you had booked to use all facilities this was again disappointing, we haven't stayed anywhere before where this has happened. The cottage is nice and in a good location, on first impressions it is modern and new but there are definitely some issues with attention to detail.Although the owner was very nice these are all little things that should be sorted before guests arrive. The bedrooms were really cold due to the underfloor heating NEVER coming on during our stay. Even though a workman was sent. One of the bedside lamps tripped out on the first night, that may have had something to do with it. The owner had to reset something and hoped after that it would be ok.The electric towel rails came on but, the underfloor didn't. After letting the owner know that we were cold they did offer us some more logs and although that helped with heating the living area, the bedrooms were still cold. On the night before we left the owner brought 2 portable heaters, not exactly in keeping with a luxury stay.Been in loads of hot tubs before and this one never seemed to get to a decent temperature, Another couple of things that we feel would improve the property is a freezer, a portable fire guard when children are staying, and the chains on the blinds in the big window could be a little higher as they were just at the height of my toddlers neckAlthough when leaving we sent the owners a text to say the break had been marred with disappointment they never replied. However, I would stay here again but would expect everything to be perfect

Beautiful surroundings and very quiet, but for the money we paid it was lacking in a lot of basic things.Lovely decor and fitted kitchen on the surface, but poorly equipped. TRead morehe fridge was very small and the ice compartment needed defrosting, but was hardly big enough to accommodate an ice cube tray let alone any food. There were no cloths or cleaning sprays to wipe surfaces down. The dishwasher was so small that you could barely get the crockery in from one meal.In the bedroom there was nowhere to put your clothes when you get undressed, only the floor. The floors are stone making them very cold if you need to get up in the night, but there was just one rug on one side of the bed.In the main bathroom, a mug to put your toothbrushes would have been useful, also when we arrived the main bathroom didn't have any soap. The bath, although splendid to look at, was totally impractical for older people - nothing to hold onto and no bath mat. Also for the "gorgeous" cottage I would have expected bath oils/soaps. There wasn't even shower gel.The armchairs in the living room look lovely but are very low and offer no support at all. This is fine if you are a young person, but not if you are older. You have a hot tub and a sauna but no washing machine! All in all, a beautiful place and what could be a really "gorgeous" cottage, but it is lacking in the not just the finer details, but a lot of the basic ones as well.
