Eco-friendly property set in a breathtaking location in the depths of the Black Mountains with fantastic views and footpaths from the doorstep. This is a great location for families, couples, nature lovers and eco-friendly fans alike.

This eco-friendly property with its own hydro-electric supply and rivers and mountains all around works really well for walking groups, a bustling family, or couples. There are market towns within easy reach and proper country pubs within a 5 minutes’ drive along the lane. Ideal for a family looking to get away from it all.  With walks direct from the door and views for miles across the Brecon Beacons National Park.  Take a stroll along the Brecon & Monmouth Canal with its popular Canal Food Trail. For riding the Black Mountains are home to several trekking centres the area is also great for cycling, challenging sub trans routes are nearby & bike hire and delivery is available nearby. Just 7 miles from Crickhowell, with independent traders, 12 miles from the Cathedral town of Brecon for larger shops and Welsh heritage, or 40 minutes from Hay-on-Wye. Growing foodie haven, Abergavenny with its Michelin restaurants and some independent gems, 20 minutes’ drive.

The accommodation offers THREE bedrooms: 1 king-size with a bath, 1 twin with en-suite shower and WC and additional cosy bedroom. Bathroom: with bath and WC. Separate WC with washing machine on the ground floor. Lounge: with open fire (first baskets of logs included), TV, DVD and beautiful views to enjoy. Kitchen/diner: with range oven and hob, dishwasher, fridge/freezer. Outside: a terrace, with garden furniture in summer months, BBQ and acres of space to enjoy and walks directly from the door. Amenities: ample parking. Bed linen, towels, electric, central heating and Wi-Fi included. Regret no smoking. 2 dogs welcome. Additional info: the central heating is efficiently run via a modern hydroelectric system feeding directly off water from the mountain. Arrival: 4pm

Welcoming owners, who live in a house adjacent to the cottage with their two friendly and on hand if you need them, so you are not in total isolation, but will have the utmost privacy otherwise.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

SLEEPS 2 - 6:  Three bedrooms upstairs. Beautiful bedding and towels included in each room. A king-size master bedroom, which encompasses a bath & basin within the room and a well sized, en-suite twin room with two full size single beds and a single room.

RELAXING: Large living space with two comfy sofas, full central heating, open fire, tv, dvd, wi-fi. Large family kitchen with farmhouse dining table, range cooker/hob, dishwasher, fridge/freezer (more freezer space available if needed).

KEEPING CLEAN: Downstairs cloakroom with loo, basin and washing machine. Each bedroom has access to a bathroom upstairs, a family bathroom with bath, basin and loo, an en-suite with shower, basin and loo. Plus a bath and basin in the master bedroom. Towels and lovely soap included. Iron and ironing board available.

OUTSIDE: A sunny terrace, with garden furniture in summer months, a barbeque, acres of space to enjoy and walks directly from the door.

PETS: Up to two dogs are very welcome downstairs, paws off the furniture please.

ECO-CREDENTIALS: Scoring highly, with the central heating being efficiently run via a modern hydro electric system feeding directly off water from the mountain.

Overall a great location if you like steep walks and amazing views. Crickhowell was lovely and great for good local shops. Would recommend this cottage. The lane is single track for 2 miles so youre reversing skills are sometimes tested. Brecon is close and worth a visit as is the Coach & Horses for lunch. We visited Nantywen in November as a group of 4 girls and 2 dogs looking to escape the city and we got just that. Bertie was a faultless host. The cottage was beautifully kitted out and Bertie even offered to light the fire for us before we arrived so as to ensure we were nice and toasty when we got in. With wonderful walks on your doorsteps and a Read morefab butcher in Crickhowell its the perfect place to bed down for a days or weeks. Hide

Amazing 2 weeks in a beautifully clean and well appointed cottage. It's super comfortable and the cottage has incredible views and in a very peaceful location. Bertie the owner was extremely helpful and easy to communicate with. It was an added treat having their 2 lovely dogs around. A perfect place for unwinding. Wonderful views and very homely accommodation make this a very relaxing place. Footpaths close to the house were a bonus because we were able to do some lovely walks without having to use the car.
