Property code: EHC04

Three-storey period property, perfect for family seaside getaways, just a few minutes’ walk away from the town’s beach and a short drive from South Downs Way, with it's cliff top walks and cycling paths.

This property is situated just one road back from the seafront parade in the East Sussex town of Eastbourne. The town became a popular resort in Victorian times and there is plenty to remind visitors of the town’s past, including the impressive pier which has been painstakingly restored following a fire in 2014. Not only does the pier offer a unique perspective of the sea and the beach, but it is also home to a lovely tea room, a jazz lounge, and a nightclub. Asides from the beach, which is manned by lifeguards in high-season, there is plenty more to see and do in the area including Beachy Head, a miniature steam railway, a water sports centre, and an impressive seafront fortress.

Enter the front hall of this charming property, leading into a spacious lounge, which, with its light and airy feel, gives guests a taste of just how much effort the owners have put into creating a welcoming and relaxing place to stay. This elegant room has a large bay window, two comfortable sofas, a flame-effect fire, a TV/DVD. Beyond the lounge, there is a separate dining room with space for six guests, which has a well-stocked games cupboard, a great place to enjoy a fun family games night. The kitchen, meanwhile, offers an oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, and washing machine, with patio doors leading out to the courtyard garden, and a breakfast table to enjoy your morning coffee.  There is also a WC on the ground floor. Two of the properties bedrooms are located on the first floor: a king-size room and a pleasant twin room with an attractive feature fireplace. The main bathroom is also on this floor, with a bath with shower over, and a separate adjacent WC. On the second floor, affectionately known as the Top Deck, there is a stylish twin room which has been lovingly styled to create a bright space with a seaside feel. This room benefits from an en-suite shower room with WC.

A patio door leads from the kitchen out to an enclosed patio garden to the rear of the property. This south-facing space has a table and chairs, which makes a brilliant place for enjoying al fresco drinks and meals. There is unrestricted roadside parking just in front of the property, subject to availability.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

The house was in a perfect location, it was large but still had a cosy seaside feel.

We enjoyed our stay at Nelson Cottage. Plenty of room. Comfortable sitting room. We didn't use the dining room - we found it easier to eat in the kitchen. The weather was good so we occasionally ate in the courtyard which was very pleasant. On the whole we found Nelson Cottage to be a comfortable and well equipped holiday home.

The house was lovely. It was very clean and tidy. We felt at home as soon as we arrived. My son had the Bedroom in the attic which he loved with its own shower and toilet. The kitchen was lovely and sunny and it had a small enclosed courtyard which was ideal for our small dog to roam around. It was only two streets away from the seafront and about Read morea ten minute stroll to the town centre. Hide

Ideally situated. Yet just far enough away from the hub of The town. We used the public tennis courts just around the corner which was handy. Parked easily outside Nelson Cottage and left the car there all week.
