Cross the town's five-arched bridge, which was the model for London's Waterloo Bridge. Wander through the ruins of Kelso Abbey, which was founded in the 1100s and was one of Scotland's largest religious houses. You can also visit Floors Castle, which dates from 1721 and houses a fine collection of art, porcelain and tapestries. Stroll through its gardens and areas of woodland; follow riverside walks and look out for a variety of outdoor events.

Golf enthusiasts can play on the 18-hole parkland course at Kelso Golf Club or spend a day at the town's racecourse. Go fishing in this area, which is internationally renowned for its salmon fishing and famous beats such as Lower Floors, Junction and Hendersyde.
