Situated adjacent to the historic farmstead and the only surviving water-powered corn mill on the river, this charming former granary has been beautifully converted into an inviting hideaway fit for romantic escapes.

Positioned next to the 18th century farmstead with its adjoining stone outbuildings and mill, this property enjoys a peaceful and idyllic location. Just beyond the watermill runs the River Honddu, now regarded as one of Europe’s most important rivers for its rare selection of wildlife including otters, salmon, British crayfish, kingfishers and lesser horseshoe bats. Set out on foot with your canine companion for a private stroll along the riverbank or delve into the ancient woodland, which is amassed with bluebells and wood anemones in the spring. Continue walking to reach the historic Georgian town of Brecon (0.5 miles), where you will find a good selection of shops, cafes and restaurants. Or jump in the car to reach the ancient hill fort of Pen-y Crug (2 miles), which boasts wonderful views from the top.

Accessed via a flight of stone steps, this delightful former granary has been tastefully refurbished to blend old and new, with its solid oak flooring, traditional Welsh dresser and contemporary fixtures and fittings. Rustle up romantic meals for two in the bespoke oak kitchen, where you will find an oven, microwave, fridge, dishwasher and washing machine. A separate scullery houses the freezer. Dine at the good-sized table before sinking into one of the inviting armchairs or sofa in the lounge area. Settle in for an evening of TV, films or music while your pooch warms up beside the roaring gas-fuelled fire. Afterwards, enjoy a long hot soak in the cast iron bath, over which there is a shower. With a slanted ceiling, exposed beam and cosy oriental rugs, the king-size bedroom is a cosy space in which to rest weary heads at the end of the day.

Outside, there is a garden complete with a BBQ and furniture for enjoying a romantic meal alfresco while your four legged friend roams safely nearby.

An amazing place, the flat was beautiful in its decoration, we had everything we needed. It was lovely and clean. The whole mill was so interesting, loved the chickens and Noel and Susie were really interesting to talk to.
