Nestled into the hillside within a peaceful hamlet, this single storey bolthole is the perfect place to start any adventure within the Forest of Dean. Ideal for families and couples alike.

Set within the hillside in the hamlet of Pleasant Stile enjoying an enviable location, offering simply stunning views across the Severn estuary and with easy access into the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley. If it’s the outdoors that you crave then head into the Forest with miles of cycling trails to suit all, the River Wye provides a great base for canoeing, kayaking and a breathtaking backdrop for the little more adventurous with rock climbing and abseiling. Step back into forest history at The Dean Heritage Centre and the Hopewell Colliery and more local attractions include Dean Forest and Perrygrove Railways, Puzzlewood, Go Ape!, the Forest Sculpture Trail, Cyril Hart Arboretum. For those craving culture and relaxation Gloucester is less than 15 miles away, why not visit the Victorian Docklands, take a stroll through the cathedral grounds and don’t forget the Quays for a lazy lunch and shopping. The small town of Newnham on Severn is close by and well served with local butcher, deli and bakery.

Take some time to enjoy the views across the River Severn before you step inside. The lounge/kitchen/diner has been finished in a contemporary style and is the perfect setting for you to relax after a day exploring. Sit back and catch up in the lounge area on the corner sofa and enjoy the views across the estuary or watch a film on the smart TV and Alexa system, there is a dining area with table and chairs for four. The kitchen, contemporary in style with wooden work tops and brass light fittings is well-equipped with electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. And when the time comes to say good night you will find two bedrooms on the ground floor. A king-size with TV and enjoying views across the estuary and a twin room also with TV. There is a shower room with shower and WC.

Step outside and enjoy the afternoon sun in the enclosed garden with furniture and BBQ for al fresco dining and have a game of boules or croquet. There is off-road parking for two cars and secure bicycle storage. The utility room is in the cellar of the property with washing machine, tumble dryer and bike storage.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

We had a wonderful peaceful time. The hosts were most helpful without being intrusive. Cottage was well furnished, clean and had everything we needed. The views are just amazing and you never tire of them. Highly recommended!

We had a really comfortable and enjoyable stay here. It is an excellent holiday rental with all you need in the way of equipment, comfortable beds and living room. The view from the house over the River Severn and surrounding countryside is wonderful! A first class place to stay to enjoy the area.

A beautiful, very well equipped house and our hosts were very friendly and most helpful. The views are magnificent and we enjoyed many long walks from the house through the forest and down to Soudley Ponds and the Heritage Centre which has an excellent, dog friendly, cafe and gallery.
