Three-storey, end-of-terrace cottage located on a quiet residential street close to centre of Brixham and within walking distance of the town’s busy harbour, as well as shops, beaches, and eateries.

This property is located a stone’s throw from the town centre of Brixham, situated in an elevated position on the west side of Torbay. Brixham itself is a harbour town, with a proud maritime history, which visitors may like to explore by jumping on board the fascinating replica of the Golden Hind. The harbour continues to be busy today, and there is a flourishing fishing industry which is very much in evidence from the town’s numerous pubs and restaurants which specialise in the local seafood. There are several beaches within easy reach of the town centre, including Shoalstone Beach, which has the additional draw of a wonderful 53 metre tidal pool, providing safe bathing, no matter what the conditions at sea.

 

Several exterior steps lead to the front door of this attractive property, bringing guests to the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, a lovingly styled room with some tasteful retro design touches. The lounge, is a welcoming light-filled space with a large sofa and comfortable chairs surrounding the TV, DVD, and cosy open fire. Enjoy the  views to the town’s harbour from the lounge.  One step up leads to the kitchen/diner with its dining table and breakfast bar providing plenty of space for family meals. Guests will easily find everything they need to make themselves at home in the kitchen, including an oven, hob, microwave and fridge. The washing machine and freezer, meanwhile, can be found in a separate covered utility area. On the first floor of the property are two bedrooms, the first of these is a double room which has the unusual benefit of its own  covered conservatory which overlooks the garden and provides a lovely private space to sit and relax. The second bedroom on this floor is a twin bedroom, whilst the first-floor bathroom offers a shower-over-bath and WC. The master bedroom, a double room, occupies the second floor of the property and enjoys views of the harbour and beyond to the sea.

 

Outside, to the rear of the properties, the garden is made up of several charming terraced patio spaces with steps connecting each area. Garden furniture is provided so that guests can make the most of these outdoor spaces, and one area is covered to provide shelter and a handy drying space. Please note that there are steep steps linking the patio areas, so children will need to be supervised. There is a parking space provided to the side of the property, please note this is on a steep incline,  additional on street parking is available on a first come basis

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Great location with the added benefit of a (steep) drive. V fast internet a plus The multi-level garden is delightful but maybe not that accessible for the v young or infirm Would definitely use again

Lovely cottage and really well equipped with everything you could need. Garden is a great space with lots of levels to catch the sun/get the shade. Really close to the harbour and the 98 steps did get easier! Car park space was really handy to have.

We really enjoyed our 4 night stay at Scallop Cottage. Its fantastic location above the harbour meant that everything Brixham has to offer was right on our doorstep. The cottage was very spacious and well equipped. It definitely benefits from its own parking space even though its on a steep slope.

Had a good weeks holiday cottage was very good just a bit of TLC needed here and there, when we arrived kitchen floor was very slippery and there was a pool of liquid on the floor! But other than that had a good holiday. Parking a bit tight but then we used the bus etc. so only moved it at the end of our holiday.

Scallop cottage is a great location to explore brixham and the local area. A very steep 2 min walk to town. The cottage was clean and comfortable with lovely decor. 2 small issues which would improve the cottage. One, a curtain / blinds on the side window outside the top bedroom. Two, there is a musty smell on entering. Candels covered it but it doRead morees linger. Neither issue would prevent us from returning though. A lovely break in a very good cottage. Hide

We had a good vacation in the cottage. We stayed 2 weeks and it would be better if we would have received clean towels and linens for the second week. We used the wassing machine but the towels took a long time to dry.

The cottage was very well equipped and in a great position. The beds were very comfortable. We hardly used the car, walked a great deal and used the local buses, boats and steam train to explore the lovely area. We took our dog who enjoyed the garden but we all found the steps quite steep up to the different levels quite challenging. Also parking iRead mores a little tricky. A great weeks holiday. Hide
