Grade II listed fishermen’s cottage situated close to the centre of the English Riviera town of Brixham with its beaches and harbour within walking distance.

This property is situated close to the centre of the Brixham, a pretty harbour town which is located on the western edge of Torbay in South Devon. The town itself has a range of interesting shops and a number of well-regarded restaurants, many of which specialise in serving the local seafood. Some visitors, on the other hand, like to take the opportunity to catch their own supper and join one of the accompanied fishing cruises that leave from the town’s harbour, or alternatively take a leisurely trip on one of the pleasure boats that run around the bay. Days at the beach are easy to enjoy here, as there are several beaches within easy reach of the property, including the town’s main Breakwater beach.

This pretty cottage makes a lovely place to stay and guests will love the attractive tastefully styling which shows the thought that has been put into creating a restful holiday home. On entering the property, guests come first to the welcoming lounge, with is comfortable seating, TV, DVD, Netfix and artfully exposed stone wall. A winding staircase leads to the lower-ground floor where the kitchen/diner is situated, offering a fantastic selection of equipment including an oven, hob, microwave, washing machine, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, and separate wine fridge. The dining table comfortably seats four and sits next to the stable door which opens onto the property’s outside space. (Please note that the kitchen has a low ceiling and some reduced head-height). Returning to the ground floor, the stairs continue on to the first-floor accommodation where guests will find the master bedroom, with its double bed, TV and fitted wardrobe. The second bedroom, a twin room, is located on the second floor, as is the bathroom which has a shower-over-bath and WC.

Outside, to the rear of the property, there is a small patio area surrounded by plants and greenery, giving it a private, secluded feel. There is a parking permit for one car in a nearby Church car park,  close to the property.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

  • Two bedrooms
  • 1 double with a TV
  • 1 twin bedroom
  • Bathroom with shower-over-bath and WC
  • TV , DVD and Netflix in the lounge

Second time staying at Seagull's rest and we had a great time. The stairs are steep but not a problem for us and our children (14 & 10). The property is very well equipped. Fantastic location and the nearby parking space is a huge bonus in Brixham. So much for families to do in the area.

Good location Bad stairs looking a bit shabby now was great last year. Outdoor space needs tidy up and clean.

The cottage is in an excellent place near to the harbour. It is well appointed; however, we would suggest having a tumble dryer rather than a drinks fridge! Although it looks a little shabby on the outside, the inside is very pleasing and tasteful. If you have mobility problems, Seagull's Rest (and indeed Brixham itself) will challenge you greatly.Read more Parking is only a couple of hundred metres or so away, and available if non-permit holders don't pinch the spaces, as we noticed happening Hide

If you can't manage stairs or steep hills this cottage isn't for you, but we loved the quirkiness and the location was lovely. The living room is cosy and the kitchen is well equipped. The garden could do with some TLC, but we would book the cottage again. Brixham is beautiful and we walked miles on both directions along the coast.

A quaint and quirky little cottage situated ideally for exploring the town, harbour and surrounding area. The kitchen was well fitted out with all the equipment needed to cook a lovely fresh cod from the harbour. The quirky stairs kept us fit as the property was spread over four floors. We had a very comfortable stay and would use again.

A lovely, comfortable cottage with a homely feel to it. Themed decoration adds to the warmth of it. Stairs would be challenging for less mobile guests. The location of the cottage is excellent and the parking pass is a tremendous asset given the nature of of the streets. Harbour and shops are within 5 minutes walk. Lovely cottage, nicely furnished but stairs are quite steep and narrow. Good parking just 5 mins walk. Short walk to the lovely harbour. Fishcombe Cove cafe is lovely and the dog walks are great around Battery Gardens and Berry Head and beyond.
