Stunning Castle Howard is 4 miles away and a must during your visit to this area. This stunning stately home and gardens are a pleasure to walk around, and there's a lovely lakeside cafe to enjoy too. On your way home, pop into the farm shop and deli here to stock up on the finest local produce.

The beautiful market town of Helmsley (12 miles) is well worth a visit. If you fancy a little pampering, you'll find the Verbena Spa here, and in the opposite direction, foodie Malton (9 miles) is another market town to explore. You're also close to the Yorkshire coast, so lots of choice for day trips.

Very comfortable cottage for up to 3 people. We took 2 Labrador dogs and there was still reasonable room. Cooking facilities were excellent. (For info: the walk just up the road starting opposite "the gatehouse" to Dalby we found was extremely overgrown though we managed to fight through. That, of course, is not the responsibility of the holiday coRead morempany or cottage owner.) Hide

I wouldn't not recommend secret view as other folk will be quite happy there. The welcome hamper was nice, thank you. The area is beautiful and the views from the cottage are fabulous. The cottage is tiny, the carpets need a good clean or replacing. When you look at the overview of the cottage it sRead moreays there is a Garden ??There isn't, it's a strip of concrete, the other side of the fence neighbours dogs are left to yap! If you sat out side in the summer you get to look at the neighbours rubbish. There is a real problem with the cess pit, neighbour told us that he had tried to get it fixed but adjoining cottage owners aren't willing to contribute. Like I say other people will be quite happy with the cottage and although we will return to the area we wouldn't use this cottage again.

Response from Pets at Home:

Hi Sally, Thank you for taking the time to complete a review, I agree the location is beautiful and the views from the cottage are fabulous! We do value your comments as it helps the owner improve things for future guests. I have now spoken with the owner regarding the comments you have raised. The carpets are deep cleaned each month however, the owner does appreciate your feedback and will look at replacing them this year. The description of the outside space is stated on the website as a small courtyard patio to the rear. A fence will be erected before the warmer months to block that view so guests can enjoy this space. Lastly we are sorry there was a problem with the septic tank. If the owner was aware of it he would have arranged for it to be emptied within 24 hours. We are disappointed that you did not enjoy your stay as much as previous Gorgeous Guests but we do hope we can welcome you back to Yorkshire. Take careLouise Hide
