Attractive cottage offering comfortable accommodation for four in the traditional fishing village of Appledore, with its working harbour, shops, and range of eateries.

This property enjoys a fantastic location just a stone’s throw from the estuary of the River Torridge in the attractive fishing village of Appledore in North Devon. The village makes a wonderful place to enjoy a holiday, with its laid-back atmosphere, fishing boats bringing fresh produce to the village restaurants, and pretty, cobbled streets. A ferry runs from the village quay across to the neighbouring village of Instow, where there is a small beach, and even more places to enjoy dining out, as well as small collection of craft workshops. The large, two-mile wide beach at Westward Ho! is just three miles away, as is the harbour town of Bideford, with its interesting range of shops, and choice of enjoyable boat trips. This pretty, painted property is typical of the houses found in the village, and has been lovingly styled by the owners to provide a comfortable place to enjoy a Devonshire break.

The lounge/kitchen/diner, with its wooden floors, beamed ceiling, exposed brick, and cosy wood burner-effect gas fire makes the most of the well-maintained original features. Enjoy listening to the waves lap against the slipway or snuggle up around the TV/DVD, and CD player. Behind the lounge area, a dining area has a wooden dining table and attractive dresser, beyond which the kitchen is well-equipped with an oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge with ice compartment, dishwasher, washing machine, and tumble dryer. The property’s bathroom is also located on the ground floor and offers a bath, separate shower, and WC. Steep cottage-style stairs lead to the first-floor where there are two bedrooms, both of which benefit from their own TV. The first of these is a double room with an en-suite WC, whilst the second is a restful twin room which can be made in to a king-size upon request.

Outside, external steps lead to an enclosed garden with a sunny patioed seating area with a BBQ which provides a great spot for enjoying alfresco meals in the warmer months. As is typical of the village, there is no private parking available, but there is roadside parking within a few minutes’ walk of the property, or guests may prefer to use the local pay-and-display car parks.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Second time staying at the Slipway, had a great Xmas. Cottage clean, well equipped with lovely Xmas touches & welcome gifts for us & our two dogs. Local residents are very welcoming & Appledore is extremely dog friendly. Can't recommend Cottage & area enough.

Perfect location for us as a couple who like trying pubs & eating out with the dog. We had dinner in 3 of the 5 pubs in Appledore, the Beaver once and twice in Royal George and Seagate. The Champ was great but does not do food. Just 16 to park in main car park for a week (3 minutes from cottage). A very welcoming cottage - fresh flowers and biscuits on the table, milk and orange juice in the fridge. it started the holiday well. We loved sitting on to sofa and looking out through the slipway to the estuary, watching the water change with the weather. We loved this cottage. It was clean, bright and welcoming and the bed was very very comfortable, always a plus in my book.
