Unsuitable for dogs and young children as only door leads onto a main road, No enclosed garden and too noisy to sit outside as all night garage next door with lorries leaving at all hours. Very stuffy as too noisy to open windows, OK for a stop over but not a longer stay.

Very clean, nice cottage. Booked for family holiday with elderly mother and granddaughter, but in retrospect it's more of a stopover place rather than for a week's stay. It's right next door to A1 services and overnight lorry park so is noisy with large vehicles coming and going. However, is a great base for discovering the area, close to lovely puRead morebs and the pool close by in Warenford helped with the disappointing shower pressure issues, hard mattresses and the uninviting back garden area. Adequate base for exploring area. Did say it was just off the A1, but should mention its actually at the side of 24 hour petrol station and lorry park. Lacking insome utensils like teapot, milk jug and fish slice. If asked would we use the property again the answer would be no,as expensive where situated.

Location wasn't ideal as there were no pathways to walk on to take you to nearest towns. Had to take the car everywhere. Cottage was OK but electric fans would have been useful as it was too noisy from outside traffic to leave windows open, especially overnight when morning traffic invariably wakes you up.

We had a lovely week at Smithy Cottage, very spacious and clean, with tea coffee, milk and treats to welcome us, having access to the swimming pool was really good and we all loved it. Location is great for vising lots of what Northumberland has to offer, and we look forward to returning.
