Set on the edge of Great Ayton, a short drive from Stokesley with historic cobbled high street, independent shops, restaurants and pubs. Located in such close proximity to Roseberry Topping, Great Ayton is a popular with walkers and outdoor lovers alike and is a perfect base for exploring the North York Moors. The summer months are popular when the moors turn purple with lightly scented heather. Explore Captain James Cook's childhood school is now home to Captain Cook Schoolroom Museum and a day is dedicated to him every October where you can have a great day out. Slightly further afield is The Cleveland Way, a National Trail in ancient Cleveland, 110 miles between Helmsley and the Brigg at Filey, skirting the North York Moors National Park. You’ll be impressed from the minute you stand outside this beautiful white cottage with iron railings and chequered tile path leading to the front door.
Stepping inside you’ll enter a lovely light filled hallway with stairs heading up to the bedrooms. Instantly you will feel at home with the classic and homely retreat. Cosy up in the sitting room in front of the open fire and keep the shutters closed for a real warm night in, watch a movie on the TV with Apple TV including Netflix and Amazon Prime or pick a book and put your feet up for a good read. Head into the kitchen, with electric oven and gas hob, microwave and fridge/freezer, where you can prepare a feast for the family and sit around the large dining table for a relaxed breakfast with the beautiful crockery provided. Following a day of discovery, head upstairs to the first floor, for a good night’s sleep in one of the two beautiful bedrooms. There is a master king-size bedroom (tempur mattress) and a twin bedroom. The bathroom is truly a great place to relax those tired muscles after a long day exploring the beautiful surroundings, with freestanding bath, basin and WC.
Head out through the French doors from the kitchen into the walled courtyard garden is a real peaceful retreat day or night, especially on a warm evening. You can head out to the ’secret garden’ through the garden gate and straight ahead for another lovely place to sit and listen to the birds singing. There is roadside parking, subject to availability.
