This beautiful cottage has maintained the elements of its past to offer an undeniably charming property loaded with character in picturesque rural surroundings.

This charming Grade II listed 18th century former stables sits in the heart of an idyllic rural English village where many of the properties are thatched. Full of character, the property boasts exposed beams and vaulted ceilings. If you can bear to tear yourself away you are within 10 minutes’ drive of places such as Monkey World, Tolpuddle Martyrs Museum and Thomas Hardy’s Cottage. The beautiful Jurassic Coast with Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door and Corfe Castle are 20 minutes away and the seaside resorts of Weymouth, Poole, Swanage and Studland are within 30 minutes. Dorchester, the county town, is 10 miles away, offering a selection of independent shops and restaurants. Alternatively, explore the lovely surrounding countryside on foot with miles of footpaths to enjoy and dog-friendly pubs within a few miles.

The property has authentic wooden floors and exposed wooden beams through all of its spaces. The stable door leads to the entrance hall and kitchen which is equipped with beautiful beech worktops. From the kitchen, you can stroll between the archway to the main sitting and dining area. This spectacle of a room, with its vaulted ceiling and exposed beams, will have you conjuring up evenings relaxing with a good read, a homely meal or snuggle down and watch a film from the library of DVDs. On the ground floor, there is also a twin bedroom with a fairy-tale-like seating space below the window that could be the perfect nook or cosy hideaway. Alongside this bedroom is a separate dressing room and a spacious bathroom that accommodates a bath with shower over. Moving upstairs and you will be greeted by a super king-size bedroom with a 6ft bed and another vaulted ceiling, exposed beams and antique furniture. Not to forget the room’s en-suite bathroom with modern shower. Please note, there is reduced head height in the eaves in the upstairs bedroom and bathroom.

From the outside, the property looks like it fell out of the pages of an English poet's notebook. Its thatched roof and clear history as horse stables make it even more intriguing and beautiful. The garden is exceptionally flat with a laid lawn and an entertaining area equipped with chairs and a table. Plants, shrubs and flower beds pave the way to a boot room which now provides the perfect storage place for any lucky visitors’ footwear, coats, bicycles and a great place to dry the muddy dog.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

A beautiful listed cottage in a picturesque Dorset village. Very tasteful, decorated with good period style furniture and exceptionally well equipped for all contingencies. I have been renting cottages in the West Country for over 30 years and in my opinion Stable Cottage was by far the best I've stayed in. It is a real.home from home, so full of character beautifully furnished, clean and so well equipped. The owners could not have done any more to make you feel welcome and cosy. A gorgeous bunch of flowers, milk, teaRead more, coffee and yummy biscuits. Super location and we didn't want to leave. Thank you all for a very memorable stay. Hide

The cottage was lovely. It was comfortable, traditional, in a great location . However, if its raining and you get wet then there not really anywhere to dry clothes out quickly. A tumble drier in the boot room would be great. Due to COVID we booked a lot of our visits first including the tank museum. Unfortunately we couldnt leave our dog in the prRead moreoperty whilst we all went so one us had to kiss out and we lost the price of an entry. We had a dog crate we could have left him in. Hide

Excellent cottage, fully equipped with all you need ( no tumble Dryer). One of the best we have stayed in. We had four adults staying here and found no problems with privacy as the one bedroom upstairs has its own shower/toilet and the downstairs is away from living space and very private.
