Pretty spacious detached cottage is a fantastic alternative to a hotel room, offering more space and privacy. Giving you peace and tranquillity to enjoy a romantic retreat set in the beautiful Loch Lomond and Trossachs National park.

This cottage is located on the eastern edge of the National Park, close to the pretty village of Strathyre. With miles of scenic walks and cycle routes to be enjoyed from the doorstep as well as a range of climbs in the numerous Munros. The river and glen around Balquhidder is steeped in history, the Balquhidder kirkyard attracts many visitors from around the world to see the resting place of the famous outlaw Rob Roy. Regular visiting birds and wildlife can be spotted in the garden, from red squirrels, pine martens, pheasants, deer and many more. A range of water sports available for Loch Earn only 10 miles away. The Mhor 84 pub and restaurant is only a few miles away for you to enjoy an evening meal out. When you have explored the beauty of the surrounding area take a day out to Stirling 40 minutes away to indulge in art galleries, shopping, leisure and historic attractions.

The owners have lovingly updated this traditional stone cottage, to create a stylish romantic retreat. Step inside to the open plan kitchen/diner, this attractive space with the dining area in one corner with wood burner giving the whole room a warm glow. The spacious kitchen itself is well-equipped, offering an oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, coffee machine, dishwasher, washing machine and patio doors leading out to the garden. Take a few stairs down into the heart of the property, to a wonderfully cosy lounge with wooden floors, a beamed ceiling, a large fireplace with a warming wood burner, and comfortable seating from you can enjoy the TV with Sky channels, CD player, and iPod dock. where you can watch the birds and wildlife feeding from the bird feeder on the rear patio. Exploring further you will find the shower room with a shower cubicle, separate WC and wash hand basin. Head through the hallway with its traditional exposed walls and up a few steps leads to the tastefully decorated and furnished double bedroom.

Stepping back outside into the delightful garden the owners have placed seating and bird feeders all around the garden for you to enjoy every aspect of the tranquil surroundings. Ample parking outside the property.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

The area around the cottage is the perfect place to begin your exploration of the Highlands. You're surrounded by lochs, burns, glens, and peaks that will take your breath away, not to mention a labyrinth of hidden woodland trails through ancient, atmospheric forests.

If you fancy a little adventure on the water, you could try your hand at a watersport or two. The village of Lochearnhead sits 5 miles away on the western edge of Loch Earn at the foot of Glen Ogle. It's a great base from which to try something new - take out a boat, learn to kayak, or go hiking around the water. In the summer season, you could even attend the Balquhidder, Lochearnhead and Strathyre Highland Games, a festival showcasing the best of the Scottish spirit.

And if you're feeling even more ambitious, this national park is home to a good few mountains high enough to get your heart racing. Take a dramatic drive to Ben Lomond, for example - at 3,193 feet, it's solid Munro territory and will definitely make your friends back home jealous.

Or for a little more town life, head to Stirling, 24 miles away, where you can enjoy a lovely meal out, take in some art and culture, or soak in the local history at Stirling Castle.

We had a wonderful relaxing break in beautiful surroundings The cottage was amazing cosy and having wood burner was a treat. My husband took advantage of the free fishing in the river next to cottage and I sat and watched the wonderful wildlife

This was our second stay in this delightfully romantic cottage and we loved it as much as our first stay two years ago! We especially love the wood burned in the kitchen - very cosy! Stunning cottage set in its own grounds, everything you need is supplied wooden flooring throughout so easy cleaned if you have a pet. This is an absolute gem of a cottage if you want rural and scenic. The garden is full of wildlife & there is a lovely stretch of river across the road, this place just blew us away and we would definitely like to book again in the future. Lovely cottage in a secluded spot. Hosts Jeanette and Gordon were very welcoming. The bird life in the gardens were a delight to watch and we had two red squirrels for company. Bed was really comfortable. Lovely. Great week.

This cottage was perfect for a relaxing week away from it all, and felt like a home away from home. We particularly loved the wildlife that came to the numerous bird feeders, including pine martens! The cottage contained everything you would need for a week away, and is in a great location for day trips to several lochs.
