A canal side property right by the water’s edge, this delightful cottage couldn’t be more perfectly placed for enjoying all that the Brecon Beacons National Park has to offer.

Whether you are sat in the garden or lounging in the sunroom soaking up the warmth, nothing will beat starting and rounding off each day watching life on the canal. A haven for wildlife and a picturesque channel for traditional canal boats chugging along, there is plenty to keep you captivated right outside. That said, if you can tear yourself away, avid walkers will be spoilt for choice for walks amongst the mountains (Pen y Fan is only 6.5 miles away) whilst those looking for culture need only wander 0.5 miles to the fantastic Brecon Theatre.

A two-bedroom cottage sleeping four people and one dog, families and close groups of friends will be affably placed here. Light-filled and comfortable, each room has been sensitively thought-out, bathed in neutral tones and kitted out with extra comfortable furnishings. For drawn-out mornings and relaxed afternoons, the lounge/diner will be a sure favourite. Settle onto the sofa, switching on the TV for your favourite show and basking in the glow of the wood burner in winter. Rivalled by the sunroom which boasts fantastic views over the canal, both rooms exude a sense of harmony. For homemade feasts, the well-equipped kitchen has everything you could need and more. Get your creative juices flowing and serve up around the dining table and chairs, or outside on the garden furniture if the weather is nice. Completing the picture, the property also benefits from a downstairs cloakroom with WC, an upstairs bathroom and two bedrooms, both equally as inviting.

A real draw, the property’s location next to the canal lends itself perfectly to afternoons spent outside in the sunshine. Boasting not only a sunroom but also an enclosed garden with sun terrace topped with garden furniture and a BBQ behind the cottage, you can ease away the hours, cool drink in hand. For extra convenience, the garden also houses a garden shed where mountain bikes can be stored should you wish to pursue some adventures.

The cottage was clean and comfortable. It was well equiped and the sun room was ideal to sit, relax and watch the world go by. The only issue was parking. We understood parking was a problem when we booked but unfortunately there was one neighbour who seemed to take up 2 parking spaces in front of the cottage which was inconvenient in the rainRead more. Terrific location, the price we paid was excellent for the time of year. The cottage needed attention to be fair, the pictures online are flattering. Possibly lockdown prevented any maintenance and upkeep prior to being rented out. The garden had more weeds than grass, decor/small damp patches,Woodchip painted over wallpaper a fair bit including thRead moree ceilings!.. But for location/views/beautiful town, you won't find much better for the money! Hide

We just wanted to say thank you for a great holiday at Swan Bank cottage. Despite the week of our stay in February 2020 coinciding with the arrival of storm Ciara, we absolutely loved it. The kitchen was very well equipped with all necessary utensils, plus a dishwasher and washing machine as an added bonus. Everywhere was very clean and the sun rooRead morem overlooking the Brecon & Monmouthshire Canal would have been great to sit in had we not had such inclement weather! The cottage is ideally located in the centre of Brecon and within walking distance from the many pubs and restaurants. On returning from a stormy and cold day out, we loved sitting in front of the log burning stove. The only issue we had was the staircase. The wooden stair treads are very slippery and there was no hand rail half-way which meant holding onto the balusters for support; a number of which were loose. Some anti-slip stair tread material would make the stairs much safer. Notwithstanding, we would not hesitate in recommending this to anyone. We had a wonderful relaxing holiday and didn't want to go home. Hide
