  • Great destination for walking with many scenic routes inland and along the nearby South West Coast Path
Property code: DC167

This beautiful cottage is situated in a tranquil and peaceful spot near the Jurassic Coast, ideal for those wanting a relaxing getaway from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

The cottage is found in the village of Chideock which has all local amenities you could need to stock up for provisions. Set back on the lane which leads down to the beach at Seatown, the detached property dates back to the 1900s and has been extended to provide luxurious accommodation. Adjacent to the owner’s house, it is centrally located for exploring the local area and the town of Bridport is only 3 miles away with its working harbour and selection of cafes for watching the world go by. There are also a number of walking routes for taking your dog on, and they vary from easy to challenging – it all depends how energetic you’re feeling!

The single storey property is accessed via stone steps from the parking area. Entered through French doors into the light and airy hall with quirky glass ceiling allowing light to fill the space. The hall benefits from a hardwearing tiled floor, ideal for dogs, and there is plenty of space to store coats and boots after you return from a walk. Up one step into the kitchen/dining room, there is another glass ceiling, this time vaulted, which allows for plenty of light to make the property feel airy and spacious. There is a wooden floor and all modern conveniences in the kitchen including a dishwasher, with French doors leading out into the rear garden. Across the hall is the lounge which has a wood burner for those cosy nights in, plus a Smart TV and iPod dock for entertainment, and the cosy decoration is accented by the beautiful slate floor. There are two bedrooms both with en-suite bathrooms. The double bedroom has an en-suite shower room, and the single bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with roll-top bath.

Outside, to the front is a paved garden which is accessed via four steps and is split-level with several areas of additional steps. This leads to a quaint summer house and the whole front garden is dotted with plants and flowers. The enclosed rear garden is on two levels and is mainly terraced with some shrubs and climbers. There is an upper terrace up seven steps boasting captivating rooftop views of the local area and to the hills in the distance. There is parking for one car.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

The Cabin feels more like staying in a friend's house than in a holiday cottage with beautiful fittings and ornaments. We loved having tea in the summer house on sunny afternoons. We really enjoyed our stay at the cabin. Very clean, great location and had most things we needed. We appreciated the extra touches such as the grain free treats for our dog. A lovely few days in Chideock.

As described and very well equipped. The 3-star rating on value was based on what we've paid previously for cottages we've rented in the Highlands. The price is on a par with other properties we looked at in Dorset

A lovely snug cottage for inclement weather! Tucked away and very quiet and private there were lots of different places to sit both inside and out. The glass roof in the kitchen meant that even when raining you could feel you were outside and the summer house was a lovely extra retreat. Really close to the sea and cliff-walks so no need for the carRead more if you like walking. Hide

One of the best holiday cottages we've ever stayed in. Felt comfortable as soon as we stepped through the door. Spotlessly clean, so well equipped in the kitchen, I even did some baking. Lovely enclosed garden for our dog. Cannot fault the cottage and would definitely recommend. We loved the area too, beautiful beaches and scenery.

This cottage was wonderfully clean and well appointed. There was nothing we thought wed need that we couldnt find! It was light and beautifully decorated throughout, and a real pleasure to stay in. We were 10-15 minutes walk from a lovely beach and pub/restaurant. We really enjoyed our time here.

The Cabin is situated off the main road and is a short walk to Seatown. It's a central location for West Dorset and Devon . The accodmation itself is bright , clean and well men tainted . The owners are dog friendly and I appreciate the extra dog towels and bowls. We've stayed there four times so obviously we like it.

Superb kitchen/diner, Bedrooms small and only smaller double bed. Although house is bungalow, front access steps would be impossible for wheelchair and difficult for those of impaired mobility.
