Five-star barn conversion property sleeping up to twelve guests, situated in a stunning secluded area of Somerset, set within 60 acres of beautiful grounds.

Selected as one of our Joules Collection properties, it now features a number of creative and colourful Joules touches throughout the spectacular open-plan kitchen and dining area.

This property is situated in one of the most beautiful areas of Somerset, right on the edge of Exmoor National Park, and within a designated Dark Sky Reserve, which offers guests wonderful opportunities for star gazing as the nights draw in. The secluded location offers guests the chance to truly enjoy the rural location, with miles of fantastic walks available directly from the property’s front door. For those looking for a little more hustle and bustle, the seaside towns of Minehead and Ilfracombe are each around an hour’s drive away, and offer a range of shops, restaurants, and attractions, alongside their beaches. Other places of interest in the area include the pretty village of Porlock, the harbour town of Watchet, and the medieaval village of Dunster with its fascinating castle.

As guests approach this detached barn conversion property, they will immediately get a sense of just how secluded and private a location it enjoys, set as it is, within its own 60 acre valley. On entering the impressive property, they come first to the welcoming entrance hall which offers plenty of space to leave coats and boots before continuing to the main living accommodation. The spacious lounge is a wonderfully relaxing space with several large sofas, a TV, DVD, and a warming wood burner, for which logs are provided. The kitchen/diner, is so much more than a place to eat and prepare meals, it is a fantastic space for socialising, celebrating, and relaxing, and as well as large dining table, there is also a breakfast bar, and an inviting sofa. The huge bi-fold doors here allow guests to open this space out to the garden, making the garden feel like an extension of the house. The kitchen area itself is well-equipped and offers a Range oven, hob, microwave, two fridges, dishwasher, and wine cooler. The washing machine, tumble dryer, and freezer can be found in the separate utility room nearby, which also has the added bonus of an additional sink. One of the property’s bedrooms can be found on the ground floor: a king-size room which can be made up as a twin room on request. This room benefits from an en-suite bathroom with sower-over-bath and WC, whilst there is also a separate ground-floor cloakroom with WC. Two separate staircases lead to the first floor, where there are four more bedrooms. At one end of the house, guests will find a king-size room which has an en-suite bathroom with shower-over-bath and WC. Nearby there is a twin room, which can be a triple on request and has one additional pull out bed, great for parties of eleven or twelve guests. This room also benefits from an en-suite, this time a shower room with WC. The second set of stairs on the ground-floor lead to two more bedrooms, both of which are king-size rooms, each with their own en-suite shower and WC.

One of the real draws of this property is the amazing outside space. Guests are free to enjoy the full 60 acres of grounds, which includes gardens with patio area, garden furniture, BBQ and a fire pit, as well as woodlands, fields, a stream, and a pond. A wonderful private hot tub, close to the seating area, enjoys fantastic views thanks to its elevated position. There is ample off-road parking available to the front of the property. Please note that the stream is located approximately 50 yards from the patio, and children will need to be supervised.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

  • 5 bedrooms: 4 king-size and 1 twin room which can be a triple on request also with 1 additional pull-out bed on request

Just ask the owners for more information.

Be sure to explore the grounds during your stay, perhaps taking a morning jog – discover pretty woodlands, a stream, a pond and fields which look even prettier given the property's elevated position. If you're after a day out in the countryside, head out for a group walk on Exmoor, perhaps stopping in one of its villages for lunch – medieval Dunster (16 miles) and cliffy Porlock (19 miles) are both great options. The Quantock Hills or the Blackdown Hills, both designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, are two more fabulous location for discovering the stunning Devon countryside by foot or on two wheels – and ideal for taking the dogs for a long workout. If the sea air calls, head to Minehead (19.5 miles) or Ilfracombe. If you're looking for some hustle and bustle, drive to Barnstaple (26 miles), set on the River Taw, where you'll find shops, cafés, a museum. A few miles outside the town is Arlington Court, a neoclassical country house and country park.
