Dry Island, upon which this property is set, is a beautiful and peaceful island brimming with wildlife and gorgeous scenery. For those that are a fan of sea life and fishing, sit back and admire the seals and dolphins right from the house itself, or head out on the property owner's creel fishing boat to catch a delightful dish for dinner. The local inn is just 1 mile away, where you will find great food, drink and spectacular views out to the sea where your meal has been sourced from. 5 miles away is the village of Gairloch which has a small selection of cafes, pubs and independent shops, perfect for a bit of retail therapy throughout your stay.

Upon arriving at this property, you will be greeted by the owner who will take your luggage over to the island allowing you to experience the magical winding path and floating bridge that lead to this quaint cottage. As one of two properties on the island, the peace and serenity that surrounds this abode will amaze you, alongside its beautiful waterside location with views out to sea and onto the mountains beyond. Inside, you will find a well-equipped and well-presented kitchen and a dining area to enjoy a nice romantic meal at, which then leads onto a cosy living room – an ideal space for enjoying a good book or some games. The double bedroom and shower room are both well finished and have everything you need to both get ready for the day ahead and have a restful night's sleep.

Out the back of the property, there is a beautiful suntrap garden area where you can sit and enjoy a nice refreshing glass of wine while the BBQ sizzles away. There is also a wonderfully romantic hot tub. The shared patio at the front of the building is where you can catch the most stunning sunsets – you will be truly amazed at how at one with nature you will feel upon returning from a stay on this island.

A lovely, small but perfectly practical cottage. It has a washing machine, dishwasher, oven and microwave. Bring detergent for the washing machine if you plan to use it. Perfect place to rest your head after a jam-packed day of exploring the island your staying on, the local village pub and the surrounding mountains and lochs. Great for an active hRead moreoliday. You will need to be fit and energised for the walk to the car everyday, it is along a very rough path along some rocks, up some steep stairs. Hide

Loved our week in this lovely location. Both on arrival and departure all our luggage was transferred as promised by boat and even placed in the cottage ready for us when we arrived over the bridge and on leaving Iain took it to the boat for us while we went back to the car. The bridge is nowhere near the challenge I expected it to be as it is wellRead more secured with ropes at several points which keeps it very stable. The curing house has everything needed for a comfortable stay and of course the all singing all dancing hot tub is now in place. The weather was not the best but that is to be expected in early March. Because of this we were not really able to take full advantage of the island but was no great hardship to stay in the comfortable cottage. We had a walk round and had a look at Otter Cabin as it was not occupied and that is equally as comfortable with a view through the french windows to die for. And the hot tub nestled among the trees. The Badachro Inn is a nice welcoming pub and we loved the old world traditional grand hotel charm of the Sheidaig Lodge. Would also highly recommend a visit to the Highland Wildlife Park a very pleasant drive into the Cairngorms. Taking it leisurely will take about 2 hours but well worth it. Not at all like a zoo all the animals are in huge natural enclosures with plenty of room to roam and an unusual selection...loved the polar bears and snow leopards. The area surrounding Dry Island is stunning. Would also recommend the Sheiling Cafe in Gairloch for a fabulous breakfast orange juice and a basket of toast included...yum. And if shopping for meat or game Kenneth Morrison the butcher in Gairloch sells top notch produce. Again yum. Hide
