Filled with traditional charm, this former village sweet shop is ideally located for exploring this picturesque pocket of the North Devon.

Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this area boasts a rugged coastline, sprawling open countryside and charming towns and villages. The village of Hartland offers shops, a Post Office, craft outlets and three vibrant pubs for sampling local produce. Set out along the South West Coast Path and discover breath-taking views with the chance of spotting some local marine life. A short drive will bring you to a string of beaches, most notably the two miles of golden sand at Westward Ho!, while the numerous hidden coves are well-worth exploring. During your stay, why not pay a visit to some of the other local attractions, such as the picturesque cobbled streets of Clovelly and historic Hartland Abbey?

Deceptively spacious inside, this charming cottage combines fresh contemporary decor with interesting original features throughout, including exposed ceiling beams, an inglenook fireplace and flagstone floors.

On the ground floor, a farmhouse-style kitchen/diner offers plenty of space for many hands to make light work. Here you will find an oven, halogen hob, microwave, dishwasher and dining table, while a separate utility room (accessed via a step) houses the fridge with ice compartment, freezer and washing machine. There is also a shower room with WC just off the utility area. After your meals, take to the lounge to relax on one of the comfortable sofas and enjoy the TV/DVD. With exposed beams above and a large stone inglenook fireplace, this is a cosy and inviting room with plenty of character. Upstairs you will find the two bedrooms, one spacious king (accessed via two steps down) and one twin. Both bedrooms benefit from charming sash windows, uneven ceilings and share a bathroom with WC on the first floor and a shower room with WC on the ground floor.

Step outside to find an enclosed rear terraced garden with seating, ideal for al fresco dining during the summer months. The neighbouring property has right of access through the garden.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

A very pleasant blustery October stay by my family of 4 and a dog. The front room is small and low lit as you would expect with a small cottage. But this was more than made up for by the large and airy kitchen/farmhouse type diner with its big table and well laid out working and cooking areas. Comfy beds. Ignore previous comments about the shower fRead moreloor. The central heating worked well. Pleasant lawned area to the rear. It was quiet whilst being in the hub of the village. Would use again. Cottage was great , no complaints at all. Outside area was a disappointment, outside back door was dirty and unkempt. Was not made clear in information that garden was on slope and not suitable for barbecuing.

Nice well equipped comfortable cottage. The only down. Side was access to the garden could be a problem for young children and people who are unsteady on their feet, also some comfortable garden furniture would improve things. Hearland is a nice friendly village close to Bude Instow and Appledore and has 2 good pubs.

This cottage is ideally placed for coast or country and set in a friendly village with 3 good pubs, a shop and post office all in easy walking distance. It is extremely well equiped and has the advantage of upstairs nd downstairs toilets. It was a very comfortable place to stay for 4 adults

A beautiful character cottage. Superbly modernised and much bigger than it looks. Cosy and relaxing. Perfect for walks and drives to the stunning coast line.

A wonderful property just suitable for our small group. Loved having the local shops and pubs on our doorstep. The enclosed garden was a plus for our dog and child. Would highly recommend to anyone. Hope to return one day.
