Step back in time within this peaceful hamlet, with its traditional village store and parlour pub offering a friendly welcome to all that come and stay. With some of the best walking within the area from your doorstep, explore the Black Mountains, and join the Offa’s Dyke pathway which will take you deeper into the countryside. Ideal for touring with the market towns of Abergavenny with its Norman Castle and farmers market within easy reach, Hay on Wye with many book shops and festivals throughout the year, make the most of the Herefordshire countryside and follow the Great Cider Route, or join in the many local food festivals held throughout the year.

The compact open-plan accommodation offers Living/kitchen/diner/sleeping area: Sleeping area has a double bed and TV. Kitchen area, with gas hob and fridge. Shower room: with shower and WC. Outside: garden area with garden furniture and BBQ. Amenities: off-road parking. Bed linen, towels, electric and underfloor heating included. Regret no smoking. 1 dog welcome. A tranquil, idyllic spot in a beautful place! I stayed between the 12th and 15th July an wished I could've stayed for a whole week! It's the many personable touches that make the Shepherds Retreat so special on arrival: the little soaps in the bathroom, the sewing kit should you need it, lots of maps and guidebooks! Stayed 9th July 2021 for 3 nights, needed to stay longed as so relaxing. Lovely setting in the middle of nowhere, perfect, with fab views. Accommodation very well equipped and cosy, owners have thought of everything you need. Definitely visit again.

Abolutely perfect!.. everything you need well thought out, the little touches that the owners left me for my stay. The location, the village, the friendly neighbours, and a large field all enclosed for my dog. Back home and missing Clodock already!.. quite endearing, do want to return soon

We had a wonderful week at the Shepherd's Retreat. It really is small and beautifully formed - we had everything we needed and received a lovely, warm welcome from the Watkins family. The Retreat is the perfect place to recharge your batteries and enjoy the amazing location and view. Lots of lovely places to visit and eat nearby, including pubs. Small but beautifully formed! The hut is small but has been beautifully done with everything you need. Very comfortable & clean. Having the privacy of the fenced off field for myself & my dog was amazing. Views in every direction. The owners were very friendly and welcoming. Perfect place to stay for exploring the eastern Brecon Beacons.

The Shepherds Hut Retreat is a real find, the owners r just wonderful people who cant do enough for.for anyone wanting peace and tranquillitythis is the place for u.we have booked again already, this will b our third time. A small piece of heaven! A very comfortable and well equipped shepherds hut in a quiet and beautiful location. Lots of lovely walks and a fabulous pub and village shop within walking distance. The hosts are very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Would highly recommend the Shepherds Retreat !

What a wonderful tiny escape :-) Everything a person could need, with a beautiful, cosy, open but private feel, and with stunning hill walks on the doorstep, Hay-on-Wye nearby, etc. The owners obviously put enormous thought into making this a comfortable, personalised stay. I had a lovely time at the Shepherds retreat. It is in a beautiful part of Herefordshire. Peaceful and quiet. Lots of walks to do. My dog enjoyed the field to run in. It was perfect holiday and I would highly recommend it.

What a find !! The hut was lovely, really compact and cosy. The location is amazing with spectacular views. Be sure to travel light, there isnt much storage space. The hut is on a working farm so you might be awoken by the mischievous sheep. Dennis & Shelia are so welcoming, nothing is too much trouble and their dogs r just lovely too. I had a wonderful weekend in this lovely cottage surrounded by fields and sheep. I was unable to make use of the grill or fire pit due to rain and high winds, but still had a relaxing stay.

The hosts were fabulous. Could not do enough for you made the holiday very special. The retreat has everything you need. Lovely welcome pack including a great Cider. Location is great for exploring the area. Would highly recommend a walk up the black mountain. We will definitely be going back.

The Shepherds Retreat was perfect in every way and the Watkins family are the best hosts we have ever encountered. We left with heavy hearts after a wonderfully peaceful holiday. The resident owl was very vocal along with woodpeckers and stonechats so a great place for nature lovers. We will return as soon as possible.

The hosts were fab from start to finish. They were very friendly, approachable and had a good sense of humour! Couldnt of been more welcoming. The hut had everything we needed & more! It was all spotless and they provided us with tea, coffee, milk, fresh bread, eggs & a cake! There was heated floor so it was very cosy. The Shepards Hut was such a perfect get away for me and my golden retriever, it was very cosy and the decor was so lovely. We had everything anyone could ever need. Absolutely great location. Such a lovely and warm family. Such a lovely relaxing time. I will definitely be returning.

We absolutely loved staying at the Shepherd's Retreat, perfect for our secluded minimoon. It is extremely well equipped (with even a spare toothbrush!), out of the way from the road and main property but not far from other towns and amenities. It was perfectly located for walks up to Offas dyke and we loved kayaking on the Wye. The Watkins family wRead moreere also so lovely and left us so many treats to start the holiday with! Hide
